This study focuses on the characteristics of Seosan Bakcheomjinori which is a puppet play performed by traditional native performers. Specifically the focus is on the puppets, the methods for performance, and the contents to try and the to understand characteristics of native performers. This is done by looking at the transmission of the puppet play from generation to generation. The result is organized as follows.
The Seosan Bakcheomjinori was formed under influence of the puppet play of the Namsadang, a traditional professional performing troupe. Without specifically looking for the origin, we can look at the puppets, the methods for performance, and the contents to find proof. But the Seosan Bakcheomjinori is not an exact replica of the Namsadangpae's Kukdoogaksinoeum because it has the characteristics of the native performers when we look how they are passed down generation to generation. The native performers made the puppets from material that could be easily obtained in that region, they used simple but unique performances such as the blind man who received his sight, and they changed the performance content to fit in their view of the world. There were no restrictions or regulations like the Namsadangpae had and so participation was open to all. Anyone in the village who was interested could participate and when the culture accepted the women, they also were able toparticipate and so in this way the number of the performer was increased. The increase in performers led to the performers having their own single specialized part. That is why at this time various tools for changing the voice such as paper against a comb or a bamboo tube was not used anymore.
