한ㆍ중 <제 복에 산다>형 설화의 존재양상을 비교하여 양국 설화의 공통점과 차이점을 살펴보는 것이 본고의 주요 목적이다. 양국 <제 복에 산다>형 설화를 아버지와 딸의 갈등, 남편과 아내의 모순 해결과정 및 그 결과에 주목하여 하위 유형 초혼형(初婚型)과 재혼형(再婚型)으로 나눠 살펴 본 결과 양국 설화는 모두 남성 대비 여성의 우위를 보여주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 양국 설화의 차이점을 살펴 본 결과, 한국설화는 모두 운명적으로 복을 타고난 주인공의 인생궤적을 주인공에게로의 복의 특화라는 방식으로 일관성 있게 그려내는데 반해, 중국설화는 복을 인간 내적인 심성과 긴밀하게 연계시켜, 설령 박복함을 개변할 수 있는 기회가 주어지더라도 인격적으로 문제시되면 궁극적으로 운명을 개변할 수 없다는 논리를 펼치면서 강한 응보의 관념을 제시하고 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 더 나아가, 한국의 경우는 남녀주인공의 형상창조를 통해 바람직한 가족 공동체의 모습이 과연 어떤 것인가를 보여주었다면 중국의 경우는 바람직한 개인의 모습이 어떤 것 인가를 보여주는 데 주안점을 두었다고 할 수 있겠다.

The main purpose of this research is to look at the common points and the differences between Korean tales concerning the theme of 'One lives on being in my luck' of Korea and those of China by comparing characteristics of the tales. The tales of two countries concerning the theme of 'One lives on being in my luck' can be divided into two categories which are a type of first marriage and a type of a second marriage based on the problemsolving processes and the result of conflict between fathers and daughters, and husbands and wives in the tales. As a result, both tales of two countries all showed women's superiority to men. By comparing the differences between two countries' tales, it is shown that Korean tales tend to constantly feature heros and heroines' lives who were born with luck and they secure it all their lives. In contrast to it, Chinese tales connect luck to human's inward nature and suggest the concept of punitive justice by developing a logic that even though heros or heroines who were born under a unlucky star get chances to change their destiny, they cannot change themif they have problem with their personality. Furthermore, Korean tales show desirable family unity through creating images of heros and heroines but Chinese tales just focus on desirable example of individual.
