본 연구에서는 PASS 읽기 향상 프로그램(PREP)이 성인 경도 지적장애인의 읽기 유창성 중 신속성과 정확성에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 본 연구의 대상은 장애인 생활 시설에 거주하면서 전반적이고 지속적인 읽기 지도가 필요한 성인 경도 지적장애인 3명이었다. 실험 설계로는 대상자간 중다 간헐 기초선 설계를 적용하여 기초선, 중재 및 유지 단계로 진행하였으며, 장애인 생활 시설 내 특수학급에서 중재가 이루어졌다. 본 연구의 중재는 동시적·연속적 처리 기능 과제로 구성되었으며, 16회기의 중재 기간 동안 한 회기씩 교차로 진행되었다. 본 연구 중재의 효과를 알아보기 위해 매 회기 기초학습기능 수행평가체제(BASA)의 읽기 검사를 이용하여 읽기 신속성과 정확성에 대한 결과를 수집하였으며, 분석 방법으로는 시각적 분석 및 일화 기록 분석을 활용하였다. 본 연구의 자료 분석 결과, PASS 읽기 향상 프로그램(PERP)은 성인 경도 지적장애인의 읽기 신속성과 정확성 향상에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 매우 효과적인 중재 프로그램인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 성인 경도 지적장애인을 대상으로 PASS 읽기 향상 프로그램(PREP)에 대한 효과를 검증하였다는데 그 의의가 있다.

This study explores the influence of PASS Reading Enhancement Program(PREP) on the reading rapidity and accuracy for adults with mild intellectual disabilities. The subjects of this study were three adults with mild intellectual disabilities who lived in care facilities for the disabled and needed continuous instruction on overall reading skills. The study used a multiple probe baseline across subjects design and set up three different steps: baseline, intervention and follow-up. The intervention stage was carried out in a special class located in the care facilities. The intervention of the study composed of tasks that required either simultaneous or sequential processing, and was divided into 16 sessions. The sessions were carried out by turns, one time providing a simultaneous task and the next a sequential one. To examine the effects of the intervention study, data was collected each session through a reading ability test called BASA on the reading rate and accuracy of the participants. The data was analyzed by methods of visual analysis and anecdotal record analysis. The results of the study indicated that the PASS Reading Enhancement Program(PERP) had a positive on the reading rapidity and accuracy of adults with mild intellectual disabilities and had proven to be a very effective intervention program.
