이 글에서는 『노자』에 담겨 있는 탈현대사회에 대한 비전을 찾아보고자 한다. 그 초점은 세 가지인데, ‘불초자들의 사회’, ‘겸겸군자의 사회’, ‘부쟁의 사회’로서의 탈현대사회의 모습을 그려보는 것이 그것이다. 현대인의 눈으로 바라볼 때, 탈현대사회는 어리석고 모자란 사람들로 구성된 사회이다. 탈현대인은 바보처럼 에고로서의 자신이 겪는 모든 불행과 고통을 감수한다. 탈현대인에게 있어 에고가 겪는 불행과 고통이란 아무 것도 아니기 때문이다. 탈현대사회는 겸손한 사람들로 구성된 사회이다. 자신을 포함해서 모든 존재에 대한 경외심을 갖고 있는 탈현대인은 오만할 수도 비굴할 수도 없다. 탈현대인은 자신보다 약한 사람의 아래에 위치할 수 있는 힘을 갖고 있다. 그래서 탈현대사회에서는 약한 것을 존중하는 가운데 윤리적인 사회질서가 형성된다. 탈현대사회는 평화로운 사회이다. 탈현대사회에서는 너와 나의 이익이 서로를 이루어준다. 그러므로 탈현대사회는 서로 다툼이 없는 사회이다. 탈현대사회는 전란이 종식된 사회인데, 그것은 탈현대인에게는 전란의 원인이 되는 인위적인 욕망이 없기 때문이다. 그래서 탈현대사회는 영속적으로 평화로운 사회이다.

In this paper, we want to explore the vision of the post-modern society. The focuses are three. The first is the society of fools. The second is the society of modest persons. The third is the society of peace. In terms of modern view, post-modern society is the society which is composed of fools. Post-modern man doesn't care the unhappiness of ego. The reason is that the unhappiness of ego is nothing to post-modern man. Post-modern society is the society which is composed of modest persons. Post-modern man can not be arrogant or servile because he has respect to everything in the universe including himself. Post-modern man has the power to locate himself lower than the one who is weaker than him. Therefore, ethical social order is built in post-modern society. Post-modern society is a peaceful society. My and your benefit is in harmony. Therefore, there is no conflict. Post-modern man does not have the artificial desire. Therefore, post-modern society is peaceful consistently.
