현대사회는 심각한 위기에 직면해 있다. 현대사회 위기의 중요한 근원의 하나는 현대 세계관이다. 현대사회는 현대 세계관의 토대 위에서 놀라운 발전을 이루었다. 하지만 현 시점에 이르러 문제가 발생했다. 즉, 현대 세계관에 입각해서 발전을 추구하고 달성할수록, 현대사회 위기가 증폭되는 역설적인 상황에 직면한 것이다. 현대사회 위기를 해소하고, 새로운 문명으로의 도약을 이룰 수 있는 근본적인 방안은 탈현대사회 건설의 기초가 될 수 있는 탈현대 세계관을 구축하는 것이다. 동양사상은 탈현대 세계관의 구성을 위해 풍부한 자원을 내장하고 있다. 동양사상에 바탕 해서 구성한 탈현대 세계관의 내용은 다음과 같다. 탈현대 인간관은 인간을 ‘영원한 시간과 무한한 공간을 자신 안에 품고 있는 우주적인 존재’라고 가정한다. 또한 인간은 우주적인 존재로서의 자신과 세계를 자각할 수 있는 능력을 갖고 있다. 탈현대 세계상에서 본 세계는 모든 존재들이 근원적으로 연결되어 있을 뿐만 아니라 궁극적으로 하나인 세계이다. 순간 속에 영원이 담겨 있고, 먼지 하나에도 전 우주가 들어 있다. 탈현대 관계관은 너를 전제로 내가 성립하고, 너와 나는 서로를 이루어준다고 하는 관점에서 대대(對待)적으로 대립을 인식한다. 탈현대 세계관은 탈현대사회에 대한 비전을 제시해주고, 탈현대사회 건설 방안을 제공해 줄 수 있다. 탈현대 세계관에 바탕 한 탈현대사회 건설의 방안은 수행(修行)이다. ‘참 나’를 자각하기 위한 노력인 수행을 통해 존재변화를 이룰 수 있고, 존재변화를 이룬 사람을 탈현대인이라고 한다. 탈현대사회는 탈현대인으로 구성된 사회이기에, 수행은 탈현대사회를 건설하기 위한 핵심적인 방안이 된다. 탈현대 세계관에 기초한 탈현대사회는 평화로운 사회이며, 사랑의 사회이다. 탈현대사회는 중심과 주변의 구조가 해체된 가운데 모든 것이 중심이 되는 탈중심적인 사회이며, 조화로운 다문화사회이다.

Current society meets the critical crisis. The fundamental cause of modern society crisis is the modern view of world. Modern society accomplished very much, but nowadays serious problems occur. Construction of post-modern view of world is the only solution to solve the modern society crisis and to jump to a new civilization. In constructing the new world view, East Asian thoughts involve many useful resources. Human being is regarded as a cosmos who involve the whole cosmos. Also human can realize himself and all beings as the whole cosmos. In terms of post-modern world view, everything is related and one involves the other in himself. One can exist only by the being of the other and they help each other. Post-modern world view can provide the vision of post-modern society and the way how we can reach to post-modern society. The way how to reach to post-modern society is mind training. By mind training, we can be a post-modern man and post-modern society is composed of post-modern man. Post-modern society is very peaceful and full of love. Post-modern society has no center but every part of society is center. Post-modern society is harmonious multi-cultural society.
