사람은 누구나 미래를 궁금해 한다. 미래를 알고자하는 욕망은 본능에 가깝다고 할 수 있을 것이다. 자신의 일상과 운명 그리고 다가올 미래에 대한 궁금증으로 예측을 시도하는 인간군상의 모습은 자연스러운 행위이자 인간심성의 보편적인 행태에 가깝다. 위기의 시대라 일컬어지는 현대사회에서 만연하고 있는 점복의 다양한 행태는 한국인의 일상생활에 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 점복에 대한 부정적인 평가가 주를 이루고 있는 편견의 껍질은 버리고 내면적 의미에서 살펴보면, 일상과 운명에 대한 해석학이자 일상에서 직면한 위기타파를 위한 주요한 수단으로 등장하고 있는 점복의 기예를 만날 수 있다. 점술공화국이라 일컬어지는 오늘날 점복의 종류와 양상은 산업사회학적인 측면에서도 많은 쟁점의 대상이 되고 있다. 이는 점복의 사회적 기능에 대해 다시 한 번 살펴볼 필요가 있는 이유이다. 오늘날의 신 유목민의 시대에서도 점복은 여전히 피흉추길을 위한 주요한 수단으로 기능한다. 일상과 삶의 위험이 증가할수록 불안한 일상을 타파하기 위한 판단의 기예로서 점복은 더욱 더 세련된 형태로 우리의 일상을 지배하고 있다. 이에 대한 사회학적 분석이 의의를 지니는 이유이다.

Wide-spread various type of divination, in modern society so called time of crisis, influences Korean's daily life hugely. Considering from the internal point of view, excluding the negative prejudice about divination, one may face the skill of divination as a analytics on daily life and fate and an important means of overcoming crisis. Social aspect of Korea, described as 'Republic of the art of divination', causes many issues in the perspective of industrial sociology. And it brings about the need to look into the social function of divination. In today's era of neo-nomad, divination functions as an important means of '피흉추길( : escaping misfortune and pursuing good luck). As the crisis of life increases, the influence of divination -as a skill of crisis escape- also increases. For that reason, the sociological analysis of divination is significant.
