최한기는 당시 유학자로서는 다소 이례적으로 매우 실용적이면서도 종합적인 인물감평 방법을 구상하였다. 그는 그가 정립한 기학의 토대 위에서 당시에 지배적이던 유가의 지인과 관상가의 상인을 비판적으로 종합한 측인의 방법을 제시하였다. 본 논문은 최한기 측인의 기학적 토대를 설명하고 그것에 따른 구체적인 인물감평 범주를 구성해보고자 하였다. 최한기의 측인론에서 인물의 어떤 요소를 감평의 범주로 삼을 것인가 하는 것은 기본적으로 기학의 학문적 특성과 기학적 인간학과 밀접하게 연관되어 있다. 기학의 세계관은 기존의 성리학적 세계관과는 확연히 다르며 서구의 과학적 세계관을 다분히 수용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 우선 기학의 학문적 특성을 유형의 학문, 실학적 이념, 일통의 철학 그리고 대동의 사상으로 정리해 보았다. 그리고 이러한 기학의 학문적 특성에 토대하고 있으면서 인물감평의 범주와 밀접히 연결되어 있는 기학적 인간학을 살펴보았다. 우리는 최한기의 기학적 인간학을 사람의 형체, 심성, 인품, 행위의 선악을 어떻게 파악하고 있는가를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 끝으로 이와 같은 기학의 학문적 특성과 기학적 인간학을 토대로 인물감평의 범주를 추출하고 이를 용모, 신기, 심덕, 행사, 인도, 처지 등 6가지로 정리하여 제시하였다

As a confucian scholar, Choe Han-ki(崔漢綺) proposed a very practical and comprehensive method of person evaluation from a bit different perspective at that time. He presented the Chek-in(測人) concept on the basis of Ki-hak(氣學) that is critically synthesized by the Gi-in(知人) of confucianist and Sang-in (相人) of physiognomist. The purpose of this paper is to explain the Ki-kak’s foundation of Chek-in and compose the concrete categories of person evaluation through Ki-hak approach. The person evaluation category of Choe Han-ki is intertwined with the academic characteristics of Ki-hak and anthropology of Ki-hak. The world view of Ki-hak is very different from that of neo-confucianism and accept rather than of modern Western science. We summarized the academic characteristics as study of Ki, practical ideas, philosophy of oneness, and thought of unification. And we examined the anthropology of Ki-hak which is based on the scholarly characteristics of Ki-hak and closely related to the person evaluation categories. We also inquired the anthropology of Ki-hak by the way of body(形體), nature (心性), personality(人品) and behavior(行爲) from the point of view of Ki-hak. Finally, we suggested the six categories of appearance(容貌), atmosphere of body(神氣), virtue of mind, behavior(行事), way of human, and position which are based on the scholarly characteristic of Ki-hak and the anthropology of Ki-hak.
