가족에 대한 한국인의 태도와 그에 따른 여러 사회현상은 학계의 주요한 관심대상 중 하나이다. 그리고 가족 관련 대부분의 연구는 ‘가족주의’라는 개념을 활용하고 있다. 하지만 가족주의라는 개념은 분석적 개념으로 활용하기에는 가족에 관한 다양한 내용들이 포함되어 있다. 이에 이 논문에서는 기존 가족 관련 연구들을 재검토하고, 그 결과에 기초하여 가족주의 개념에 혼재된 관점들을 (1) 가족애착주의, (2) 가족지향주의, 그리고 (3) 가족중심주의로 구분하였다. 나아가 한국사회에서 발견되는 가족 관련 사회문제는 가족중심주의적 정서, 사고, 행위와 깊이 연관되어 있음을 간략하게 논증하였다. 또한 가족애착주의와 가족지향주의는 대부분의 사회에서 발견되는 일반적인 것이지만, 가족중심주의는 한국사회의 근대적 전환과정에서 발생한 특수한 현상이란 성격을 지니고 있다. 가족중심주의는 한국사회와 유사하게 근대로의 전환 이후에도 가족의 중요성이 줄어들지 않은 사회를 이해하는 분석적 개념으로도 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Korean people's attitudes about family and various social phenomena associated with family, it is one of a major concern of academia. And most of the family-related studies utilize the concept of the ‘familism’. The concept of familism can not use as the analytical concept, because the familism contains various viewpoints about the family. For this reason, we review the existing studies of family-related. According to the results of the review, attitudes and viewpoints that the familism contains were categorized into three attitudes below, (1) family-attachments, and (2) familydependence, (3) family-centered. Furthermore, Family-related social problems to be found in Korea, it was found that it is deeply associated with Family-centered. In order to utilize for related research, it was defined as the ‘family-centrism’. In addition, (1) Family-attachments and (2) Familydependence are a common phenomenon that is found in most societies, and ⑶ Family-centrism is a particular phenomenon occurred in the process of transition to the modern. The ‘family-centrism’ can be utilized as the analytical concept for understanding the society that does not diminish the importance of the family.
