문명 대전환기에 해당하는 현 시점에서 사회학자는 탈현대문명의 구상화에 전력을 기울여야 한다. 본 논문은 탈현대교육을 구상화하는데 있어서 과거 유교교육이 어떻게 활용될 수 있는가에 관한 것이다. 유교교육에는 물론 전현대적인 요소가 많고, 현대적인 요소 역시 일부 포함되어 있지만, 탈현대적인 요소도 풍부하게 내장되어 있다. 유교교육에 탈현대적인 요소가 풍부한 이유는 유교가 갖고 있는 탈현대적인 인간관에 기인한다. 유교는 ‘참 나[仁]’를 내재하고 있는 존재로서의 인간관과 ‘참 나’가 헤게모니를 행사하는 가운데 인간의 욕망, 감정, 생각, 본능, 육체 등을 존중하는 전체적인 존재로서의 인간관을 갖고 있다. 이런 유교 인간관은 탈현대적인 특징을 갖기 때문에, 유교 인간관에 바탕을 둔 교육도 탈현대교육의 구상화를 위해 풍부한 시사점을 갖는다. 본 연구에서는, 첫째, 탈현대교육의 기반이 되는 탈현대 인간관의 구상화를 위해 활용될 수 있는 유교 인간관의 특징을 살펴보고자 한다. 둘째, 탈현대교육의 구상화를 위해 의미 있는 유교교육의 내용을 살펴보고자 한다. 주된 내용은 유교의 성인聖人교육과 중용中庸교육이 어떻게 탈현대교육으로 활용될 수 있는가 하는 점이다.

Today's sociologist should concentrate the whole power on exteriorization of the post-modern civilization at the time of the grand transition of civilization. This paper is about how the Confucian education can be utilized to exteriorize the post-modern education. The Confucian education includes many pre-modern elements, a little modern elements, and plentiful post-modern elements. The reason why the Confucian education includes plentiful post-modern elements is that the Confucian thought is based on the post-modern view of human being. The Confucian thought is based on the view of human being who has 'the real I' and who has diverse characteristics. The Confucian view of human being is post-modern. Therefore, the Confucian education based on the Confucian view of human being has much implication in exteriorization of the post-modern education. In this paper, first, we will examine the characteristic of the Confucian view of human being which can be utilized to exteriorize the post-modern view of human being which can be become of the post-modern education. Second, we will research the contents of the Confucian education for the exteriorization of the post-modern education. Main point is how the Confucian education which is to cultivate saint and the Confucian education which is to cultivate the man who can take the golden mean can be utilized as the post-modern education.
