불국사는 한국 전통의 불사건축물 임에도 불구하고，서구의 객관적인 형식미의 기준을 들이대어도 독자적 비례의 미적 논리를 충족한다. 여기에 더해，불국사는 수차례 답사해도 항상 친근감이 있다. 이는 우리민족의 다양한 역사적 사건이 내재된 유전자적 전통건축물이기 때문이다. 우리는 불국사에 저장된 역사적 유전자에 대해 얼마나 알고 있는가? 불국사의 아름다움에도 DNA와 같은 나선구조로 의미화 할 수 있는 유전적 정보가 존재한다. 불국사의 아름다움을 드러내는 나선형태의 DNA적 버팀목은 한민족의 용틀임이며，창건 이전부터 가르침으로 작용 했던 유ㆍ도가 사상일 것이다. 그리 고 그 사닥다리를 잇는 4가지 요소는 건축의 전통과 역사의 시간과 함께 물질，공간，역동성일 것이다. 이에 본고는 불국사의 아름다움을 DNA구조가 갖는 조합적 의미로 해석하고자 한다. DNA가 생명체에 내재된 과거의 정보를 품어 유전적 특성으로 나타나듯이，불국사도 우리민족의 역사와 전통을 저장하는 유전자적 특성으로 승화되어 나타나기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 현대의 사회ㆍ예술적 입장에서 불국사의 물질，공간，역동성이 시간과 함께하는 풍요로움과 같이한 유ㆍ불ㆍ선 가르침을 통 해，서구의 미가 아닌 우리만이 갖는 역사와 전통의 아름다움을 사상적으로 논의하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Although Bulguksa is a traditional Korean architecture of Buddhism, it satisfies the aesthetic logic of independent portion even though with the standard of western objective beauty of form. In addition to this, Bulguksa is always familiar how many times we visit it. It’s because it’s a traditional genetic architecture inherent in Korea’s diverse historical events. How much do we know about the historical DNA stored in Bulguksa? In the beauty of Bulguksa does genetic information exist which can be signified through a spiral structure, such as DNA. The DNA support to expose the beauty of Bulguksa can be said to be Confucianism and Taoism that worked as lesson before its foundation. And the foothold organizing the four elements connecting the ladder is mostly likely material, space and dynamics along with time of architecture. As the synthesis to which time of history and tradition has been added, the genes of Bulguksa as DNA can be created meaningfully. Accordingly, this paper intends to interpret the beauty of Bulguksa in a comprehensive meaning that the structure of DNA has. It’s because as DNA appears through the characters of a living thing with the information about the past inherent in it, Bulguksa also appears sublimated into genetic features storing Korean history and tradition. Therefore, this research aims at interpreting Bulguksa as simultaneity in which history and tradition, material, space, and dynamics exist along with time from the position of modern society and art, and ideologically discussing Korean beauty, not western one.
