심성지식장은 조선시대를 지배했다. 조선시대 심성지식장은 성리학의 심성론에 바탕을 두고 있으며, 심성론에서는 인간을 감성적 존재, 느낌의 존재로 파악한다. 그리고 성리학에서는 인간 감정을 늘 성찰하는 인간, ‘감정 처리와 감정교류의 달인’을 이상적인 인간으로 파악했다. 이러한 심성지식은 고전소설의 형성과 발전에 많은 영향을 주면서 새로운 지식장을 형성하였다. 첫째, 심성철학의 논설은 심성도설을 산출했고, 심성도설은 심성우언소설의 출현을 촉발했다. 심성우언소설은 심성지식장이 서사적 활로를 모색하면서 발생한 것이다. 심성우언소설은 마음나라의 흥망성쇠를 중심사건으로 다루고 있다. 둘째, 심성지식은 판소리 서사문법의 탄생에 미학적인 측면에서 많은 영향을 끼쳤다. 심성론에 바탕을 둔 정리적 합리성은 판소리의 서사미학과 서사문법의 골간이 되었다. 셋째, 심성지식은 가정소설과 대장편가문소설의 형성과 발전에 큰 영향을 끼치면서 새로운 영역을 확장했다. 가정소설과 대장편가문소설은 인간관계 속에서 발생할 수 있는 거의 모든 감정문제의 실제사례를 설정하고 이에 대한 바람직한 해결방법을 도출했다. 그런 점에서 감정처세교과서로서 중요한 기능을 수행했다. 조선시대 심성지식장은 철학적 논설, 시각적 도상, 예의규범서, 소설 등의 다양한 형태를 보여준다. 그리고 이런 다양한 형태의 심성지식들이 지향했던 공동의 목표는 도덕감정공동체의 구현이었다.

Simseong Knowledge Field dominated the Joseon Dynasty. It is based on the Simseongnon(心性論) of Neo-Confucianism. In Simseongnon, Human beings are identified as ‘emotional existence’ and ‘feeling existence’. The Ideal Man of Confucianism is ‘a man who always reflects emotions’ and ‘a master of emotional processing and emotional exchange’. Simseong Knowledge has greatly influenced the formation and development of classical novels and formed a new field of knowledge. First, Simseongnon has affected Simseongdoseol(心性圖說), Simseongdoseol became a cause of Simseonguansoseol(心性寓言小說). Simseonguansoseol was created by the Simseong Knowledge field seeking a narrative live way. Simseonguansoseol treated the rise and fall of the heartland as a central event. Second, Simseong Knowledge Field had a lot of influence to Pansori’s narrative aesthetics. ‘Rationality of emotion’ has become the intersection of Pansori’s narrative aesthetics and narrative grammar. ‘Rationality of emotion’ based on Simseongnon Third, Simseong Knowledge Field has had a great impact on the formation and development of Gajeongsoseol(家庭小說) and Gamunsoseol (家門小說). Gajeongsoseol and Gamunsoseol set up almost the emotional problems that can occur in our relationships and draw up a preferred solutions for them. It performed an important function as an emotional textbook. In the Chosun dynasty, the Simseong Nowledge Field is expressed in various forms such as philosophical articles, visual icons, normative books of courtesy, and novels. Various types of Simseong Knowledge are aimed at ‘implementation of moral emotion community’.
