오늘날에 이르러서 현대사회 위기는 전 지구적인 차원에서 전면적으로 가속화되고 있다. 그런데 문제의 심각성은 위기가 현대적인 의미에서 발전을 추구하고 달성함에 따라서 증폭된다는 점에 있다. 즉, 위기의 근원에는 현대문명의 토대인 근대적 세계관이 자리 잡고 있다. 그러므로 현대사회 위기를 극복하기 위해서는 새로운 세계관 구성이 필요하며, 본 연구에서는 동양사상에 의거하여 새로운 세계관을 구성하고자 한다. 새로운 세계관 구성에 있어서 이 글이 동양사상에 의거하는 이유는 동양사상이 새로운 세계관 구성에 있어서 가치 있는 자원을 풍부하게 담고 있기 때문이다. 이 글은 동양사상의 바탕 위에서 통일체적 세계관이라고 명명한 새로운 세계관을 구성하고, 통일체적 세계관의 바탕 위에서 탈현대 대안사회를 구상하고자 한다. 탈현대 대안사회에서는 삶의 구조와 목표의 혁명적인 전환이 일어난다. ‘노동과 소비’가 중심이 되는 삶에서 ‘수행修行과 낙도樂道’가 중심이 되는 삶으로 변화한다. 사회 성원들은 자신과 세계를 깊이 존경하며, 모든 행위 주체들이 사랑으로 맺어진다. 세계 정부가 출현하고, 세계 공용어가 사용되며, 탈중심적인 사회구조가 보편화된다. 가족, 경제, 정치, 교육 등 모든 사회제도와 일상생활도 통일체적 세계상을 구현하는 방식으로 재조직된다. 마지막으로 탈현대 대안사회에 이르는 방법을 간단히 서술했다. 현대사회가 투쟁과 경쟁 등과 같은 현대적인 방법으로 건설되었듯이, 탈현대사회는 평화와 사랑 등과 같은 탈현대적인 방법으로 건설된다. ‘인간의 자기변화를 통한 세계변화’라는 것이 탈현대 대안사회에 이르는 방법의 요체이다.

The recognition of the crisis of modern society began in Europe in 1920s. Nowadays the crisis of modern society has been accelerated widely across the board. And the seriousness of the problem lies in the fact of that the crisis is the inevitable result of pursuing and achieving development in modern sense. Namely, the crisis of modern society comes from the modern world that is the foundation of modern civilization. Therefore, a new world view is needed to overcome the crisis of modern society. In this paper, a new world view based on the East Asian social thoughts is constructed. The reason this paper is constructed based on the East Asian social thoughts is that the East Asian social thoughts includes after-modern elements fluently. In this paper, the unified world view is constructed based on the East Asian social thoughts. And a after-modern alternative society is explored based on the unified world view. In the after-modern alternative society, the structure and goals of life are fundamentally changed. In essential, the structure and goals of life are changed from life centered in ‘labor and consumption’ to life centered in ‘practice of austerities and enjoying the Tao’. In the after-modern alternative society, everybody respects himself and/or herself and the world. Everybody is combined with love. World government appears and world common language is used. All the social institutions including family, economy, politics, education and everyday life are reorganized in the way to realize the idea of the unified world view. Finally, the way how to reach the after-modern alternative society is described simply. The modern society is constructed by the modern ways such as struggle and competition. In the same way, the after-modern society is constructed by the after-modern ways such as peace and love. The essence of the way to reach the after-modern alternative society is ‘the change of world through the change of self’.
