본고에서는 박경리의 작품 ≪표류도≫, ≪김약국의 딸들≫, ≪시장과 전장≫를 중심으로 시대에 대한 여성 인물의 사유방식과 정체성의 관련 양상을 고찰해 보았다. 먼저 2장에서는 ≪표류도≫의 ‘현회’를 통해 내적인 분열의 극복과 현실 긍정의 의지를, 3장에서는 ≪김약국의 딸들≫의 ‘용빈’을 통해 가족애의 회복과 사회의식의 추구를 살펴보았다. 그리고 4장에서는 ≪시장과 전장≫의 ‘지영’을 통해 돌봄의 윤리와 생명의식의 회복을 살펴보았다. 세 작품 속 여성 인물들은 타인의 수용과 현실 혼란의 극복을 통해 갈등적인 세계와 화해하는 가운데 자기 자신을 찾고자 한다. 이것은 개인에서 사회로의 이동을 통해서 주체의식이 바탕이 된 정체성의 모색으로 인간 생명력의 중요성을 알 수 있게 한다. 이와 같은 본고의 논의는 박경리 문학의 여성 인물들이 갖고 있는 시대에 대한 사유 방식을 확인하게 한다. 더 나아가 공동체 의식을 바탕으로 한 인간 생명력의 중요성을 알 수 있게 한다. 이것은 박경리가 추구하는 생명의식의 기반을 찾을 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있다.

This study set out to examine characters’ reasoning methods about the times and their identity patterns with a focus on ≪Pyoryudo≫, ≪Daughters of Kim Yark-kook≫, ≪The Market and Battlefield≫by Park Kyungri. Chapter 2 examined the conquest of internal disruption and will for the affirmation of reality through “Hyeon-hoi” in ≪Pyoryudo≫. Chapter 3 examined the recovery of family love and pursuit of social consciousness through “Yong-bin” in ≪Daughters of Kim Yark-kook≫. Chapter 4 examined the ethics of caring and the restoration of awareness of life through “Ji-yeong” in ≪The Market and Battlefield≫. These discussions shed light on the changes of reasoning methods about the times that female characters have in Park’s literature and confirm the identity that they search for based on their main consciousness. Furthermore, they offer an opportunity to search for the foundation of awareness of life sought after by Park.
