오늘날 인류가 마주하고 있는 지구환경의 급변현상은 전세계 1/3의 대도시들이 강변이나 해변가를 중심으로 자리잡고 있다는 사실에서 인간의 실존적 삶의 위기요소로 부상한다. 도로망들도 해안선을 따라 배치되는 경우들이 많기에 해수면 상승과 같은 지구환경변화는 도시의 생존자체에 결정적인 타격이 될 것으로 예상되기 때문이다. 현대인들이 거주하고 있는 도시 그리고 공동체의 발전을 위해서는 인구의 증가, 사회적 불평등의 가속화, 생태환경의 파괴와 자연자원의 고갈 등 전 지구적인 위험이 급격히 증가하면서 새롭게 추구할 가치가 필요하게 되었고 그러한 배경 하에 등장한 것이 ‘지속가능한 발전’이라는 개념이다. 인류공동체의 지속가능한 발전을 위해 환경과 도시개발에 대한 대안으로서의 지속가능한 공동체를 위한 다양한 이론적 논의들이 새삼스럽게 중요시되고 있다. 그러므로 최근 들어 증가하고 있는 생태적 지속가능도시에 대한 관심과 도시조성을 위한 전통적 지리관으로서의 풍수적 관점이 주목되는 것이 더 이상 이상한 현상은 아니다. 도시의 지형적 특성이 반영된 지속가능도시조성계획에도 풍수의 실제적 개입과 설명은 이미 실현되고 있는 사회적 사실이기 때문이다. 국가나 지방자치단체도 지속가능도시에 대한 접근방법에 있어서 과거의 서구적 인위적인 경제중심의 사고에서 벗어나 다양한 생태중심의 사고로의 전환이 필요하다. 이러한 인식과 정책전환을 바탕으로 동양전통사상과의 만남은 생태적 지속가능도시의 개념을 재정립하거나 확장하는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다. 여기서는 지속가능한 환경과 도시발전의 여러 가지 논의에 대해 살펴보고 대안적 가능성으로서 풍수지리의 논리를 해운대의 도시환경에 어떻게 적용해 볼 수 있을 것인가에 대한 시론적인 논의를 시도해 보고자 한다.

The rapid change of the global environment facing humanity today is emerging as a crisis element of human existential life in the fact that one third of the big cities around the world are centered on the riverside and the beach. Because road networks are often located along the coastline, global environmental changes such as sea level rise are expected to be a decisive blow to the city's survival. For the development of the cities and communities in which modern people live, there is a need for new values to pursue as the population increases, the acceleration of social inequalities, the destruction of the ecological environment and the depletion of natural resources, The concept is 'sustainable development'. For the sustainable development of the human community, various theoretical discussions for sustainable communities as an alternative to the environment and urban development are being renewed. Therefore, it is no longer strange that attention to ecological sustainable cities, which have been growing in recent years, and the feng shui viewpoint as a traditional geographical point for city composition are attracting attention. The actual intervention and explanation of Feng Shui in the sustainable city planning that reflects the geographical characteristics of the city is a social fact that has already been realized. Countries and local governments also need to shift away from past Western, artificially economic-centered approaches to diverse eco-centered approaches in their approach to sustainable cities. Based on this recognition and policy change, meeting with oriental tradition thought can contribute to redefining or expanding the concept of ecological sustainable city. In this paper, we will examine various discussions of sustainable environment and urban development, and try to apply the theoretical discussion on how to apply Feng Shui's logic to urban environment as an alternative possibility to Haeundae in Busan.
