In this article, we examined Russian speaker's production of word-initial and word-medial Korean stops, compared with Korean speaker's. In the word-initial position the measured voice onset time(VOT) values of tense stops, produced by both Korean and Russian speaker's, were significantly lower than those of aspirated and plain stops. By comparing aspirated stops with plain ones, we found that aspirated and plain stops were significantly different from each other. With regard to pitch, both Korean speakers and Russian speakers produced stops with a higher pitch than plain stops. In the word-medial position the measured closure duration(CD) values of tense stops, produced by both Korean and Russian speaker's, were significantly longer than those of aspirated and plain stops. The most crucial difference between the two groups was the VOT of word-medial plain stops. Given that the VOT values of intervocalic plain stops in the Russian group were not significantly different from tense stops, Russian speakers can't distinguish between plain stops and tense stops. In addition, the measured pitch values of tense stops produced by Korean speaker's were not significantly different from plain stops. However, the measured pitch values of tense stops also produced by Russian speaker's were significantly different from plain stops as well.
