연구배경 최근 세계적으로 한국 패션에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 한국 패션의 역사 기록과 특성에 대한 연구가 중요해지고 있다. 본 연구는 국제와 국내 무대에서 활발히 활동하고 있는 한국 중견 패션 디자이너 박춘무의 작품을 분석하고 디자인의 미적 특성을 밝혀 한국 현대 패션 역사의 일부를 기록하고 한국 패션의 정체성을 논의할 수 있는 자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 연구방법 본 연구는 인터넷 검색 사이트를 이용하여 박춘무 디자이너와 그의 컬렉션, 디자인에 대한 기사와 리뷰를 수집하였고, 그가 뉴욕패션위크에 참가한 2010 FW~ 2017 SS까지의 컬렉션 사진자료를 수집하여 디자인 특성을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 사진 자료는 여러 패션전문 매체 인터넷 사이트를 이용하여 수집하였고 컬렉션 주제와 영감, 조형 특성, 이미지를 분석하였다. 그리고 이를 기반으로 디자이너 작품세계의 미적 특성을 총체적으로 논의하였다. 연구결과 박춘무 관련 기사와 컬렉션 작품을 분석한 결과 그의 디자인에서 반복적으로 나타나는 대표 디자인 특성은 무채색과 모노톤, 구조적 라인과 비정형적 라인의 조화, 소재 대비와 혼합에 의한 조형 표현, 미니멀리즘, 모호한 성의 표현, 스포티즘, 그리고 한국적인 미학의 이미지 표현으로 나타났다. 결론 30년의 역사를 지닌 브랜드 디자이너 박춘무는 비교적 일찍부터 해외 진출을 시도하여 성과를 거두었고, 상업성과 디자이너 감성의 조율을 통해 성장하였다. 그는 아방가르드와 모던한 디자인 감성을 기본으로, 최근에는 한국적 감성의 도입을 시도하고 있다. 본 연구결과 박춘무의 컬렉션에 나타난 디자인의 미적특성은 ‘컨템포러리 아방가르드’,‘한국적 미학의 아방가르드’로 결론내릴 수 있었다.

Background Recently, the record and research on the characteristics of Korean fashion is becoming important. The purpose of this study is to analyze the works of Korean fashion designer Park Choonmoo, who is actively engaged in international and domestic stage, to reveal her design aesthetic features. Methods This study collected articles and reviews on Park Choonmoo and her fashion collection, using an internet search site. And study analyzed the design of collection from 2010 FW to 2017 SS in New York Fashion Week. Collection photographs were collected from various fashion media web sites and brand facebook. The collection theme, inspiration, formative characteristics, and images were analyzed. Result The characteristics of Park’s design appeared as achromatic and monotone, harmony of structural line and irregular line, formative expression by mixture of material and material. Also images of minimalism, ambiguous sex expression, sportism, and expression of Korean aesthetics was appeared. Conclusion Park Choonmoo has been based on avant-garde and modern design sensibility, and recently she is trying to introduce Korean sensibility. As a result of this study, the aesthetic characteristics of the design shown in Park's collection appeared as ‘contemporary avant-garde' and ‘Korean aesthetic avant-garde’.
