이 연구는 한국어교육의 연구와 교수 분야에서의 활용을 위한 담화의 개념사용에 대한 연구로서 기존 연구들에서 담화와 그 인접 개념들이 어떻게 규정되고 사용되어 왔는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위하여 첫째, 선행 연구와 이론적 배경들을 광범위하게 살펴보았고 둘째, 담화와 텍스트에 관한 주제어 분석을 수행하였다. 셋째, 한국어교육 분야에서는 담화 관련 연구가 주로 어떠한 영역에서 수행되어 왔는지를 조사하였다. 주제 분석의 결과 ‘담화’의 주된 정의 속성이 ‘실제 언어’라는 사실에 방점이 놓임을 보였다. 이러한 점에서 ‘담화’와 ‘텍스트’는 광의로 보아 공통적이었다. 반면 협의의 ‘담화’와 ‘텍스트’는 그 연구경향에 있어 차이를 보이는데 전자는 주로 [+구어성]의 특성을 보이며 후자는 [+문어성]에 관련되어 있음을 보였다. 한국어교육 분야의 담화 관련 주제어 분석 결과, 담화표지에 대한 연구가 주를 이루고 구어와 관련된 연구에 치중되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 통하여 한국어교육 현장에 ‘실제 자료’, ‘의사소통 행위’, ‘맥락에 놓인 언어’, ‘의도를 실현하기 위해 사용된 표현’, ‘의미적 응집성을 갖는 형식 연쇄체’와 같은 담화의 특성에 대한 고려가 교수 내용의 측면에 반영되어야 함을 주장하였다.

This is a study on the use of the concept of discourse for the study of Korean language education and its application in teaching field. This study examined how discourse and its neighboring concepts are defined and used. Firstly, preliminary research and theoretical backgrounds were reviewed, secondly, the key words analysis of the studies on discourse and text was conducted. Thirdly, this study looked at what areas discourse related studies have been conducted in the research filed of Korean language education. The results of the key words analysis showed that the main definition attribute of discourse is real language. In this respect, ‘discourse’ and ‘text’ were common. On the other hand, the ‘discourse’ and ‘text’ in the narrow sense differ in the tendency of the research, the former mainly exhibiting [+ spoken] characteristics and the latter related to [+ written]. Through this, this study argues that consideration of the characteristics of discourse such as ‘actual data’, ‘communicative action’, ‘language in context’, ‘expression used to realize intention’, ‘form chain with semantic coherence’ should be reflected in the aspect of teaching contents.
