본고에서는 김규식(1900)과 김규식(1909)의 내용들을 세부적으로 검토해 봄으로써 김규식 문법이 지니고 있는 국어학사적 의의를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 첫 번째 측면으로는 지금까지 서구문법의 영향을 받았다고 평가되었던 부분들에서 국어의 특수성을 반영한 김규식 문법의 독창적 분석들을 살펴보았고, 두 번째 측면으로는 국어 문장의 의미를 해석하는 데에 있어서 다양한 의미적, 화용적 분석이 이루어지고 있음을 확인하였다. 서구문법의 수용과 극복이라는 측면에서는 김규식(1909)에서 관사, 관계대명사, 접속사 범주를 설정한 것이 단순히 서구문법을 기계적으로 적용한 것이 아니라 서구 언어와는 다른 국어의 특수성을 고려한 것이었다는 점을 확인하였다. 이러한 품사 범주에 속하는 어휘가 실제 국어에서 사용될 때 나타나는 다양한 용법에 대해 설명하고 있는 부분들이 함께 나타나고 있다. 국어의 의미적, 화용적 분석이라는 측면에서는 김규식(1909) 곳곳에서 발견되는 화자와 청자를 고려한 의미 해석과 문장의 축약과 풀어쓰기에서 나타나는 김규식의 독창적인 문장 의미 분석 내용을 살펴보았다. 이와 같은 김규식 문법의 특징들을 살펴보는 것은 개화기 국어 문법의 형성기에 나타난 다양한 관점의 문법 의식을 파악하는 데에 중요한 의의를 지닌다. 이는 국어 전통문법의 주류라 할 수 있는 주시경, 김두봉, 최현배로 이어지는 논의에 국한되지 않고, 국어 전통문법의 형성을 바라보는 보다 폭넓고 다양한 시각을 제공해 줄 수 있기 때문이다.

The purpose of this article is to examine the contents of Kim Gyu-sik(1900, 1909) in detail, and to reconsider the historical meaning of Kim Gyu-sik's grammar. First of all, we examined the original analysis of the Kim Gyu-sik's grammar reflecting the specificity of the Korean language in the parts that have been evaluated to have been influenced by western grammar. Secondly, we have examined various semantic and pragmatic analysis in analyzing the meaning of Korean sentences. In terms of the acceptance and overcoming of Western grammar, it was confirmed that the setting of articles, relation pronouns, and connective categories in Kim Gyu-sik(1909) was not merely applied to the Western grammar mechanically, but considered the specificity of the Korean language. In Gyu-Sik Kim(1909), the vocabularies belonging to the part-of-speech category are explaining the various explanations of various usages when they are used in actual Korean. In terms of the semantic and pragmatic analysis of Korean language, we examined the semantic interpretation contents considering the speakers and listeners and also examine the semantic analysis that appears in the abbreviation and paraphrasing of sentences. Examining the characteristics of Kim Gyu-sik's grammar has important implications for understanding the grammatical consciousness of various perspectives in the Korean traditional grammar period. This is not limited to the discussions leading to the mainstream of Korean traditional grammar, such as Ju Si-kyung, Kim Du-bong, and Choi Hyun-bae, but it can provide a broader perspective on the formation of traditional Korean grammar.
