본 연구는 조선시대 가야산 유람록을 개관하고 유람의 특징과 유람록에 형상된 최치원문화경관의 특성을 밝힌 것이다. 가야산은 고운 최치원에 대한 기억을 환기하고 그의 삶의 의미를 생각하는 장소였다. 최치원에 대한 담론의 대부분은 그의 은둔과 정치적 선택을 신선세계의 깨끗함을 선택한 것으로 평가하고 있다. 유람록에는 행장, 음식, 여정, 가마꾼, 승려, 돌에 글씨를 새기는 각승(刻僧)의 존재 등을 기록하고 있어서 조선시대 유산 문화의 일면이 잘 나타나 있다. 유람객이 가장 많은 관심을 보인 것은 홍류동과 해인사이다. 홍류동 경관은 최치원의 시석(詩石)과 최치원 필적의 ‘홍류동’ 각석이 중심이다. 유람객은 이들을 근거로 새로운 명문(銘文)을 재생산했다. 그들은 돌에 이름을 새김으로써 자신을 최치원에 동화하려고 했다. 다음으로 관심을 보인 것은 해인사 경내의 진상전과 학사대이다. 여기에는 최치원 영정, 학사대의 형태와 기능, 최치원 수식송, 후계송, 우비정 등의 경관이 형상되어 있다. 가야산 유람록은 최치원문화경관의 생성과 변화의 과정을 기록하고 있다. 경관의 고증은 경관과 서사의 상호텍스트성을 규명하는 토대가 된다.

The study revealed the nature of the tours and the process of changing the Choi Chi-won cultural landscape in Gayasan pleasure book during the Joseon Dynasty. The contents of the discourse sometimes express critical opinions about Choi. However, most of them interpret his seclusion as a result of abandoning the world and choosing the cleanliness of the fresh world. The minutes of the excursion record the journey, food, and travel schedule. Also, the aspects of Joseon's tourism culture are well expressed, including the labor of the accompanying kilns and monks, and the existence of a stone-piercing horned monk. The places that tourists are most interested in are Hongryudong and Haeinsa. Hongryudong, incised stone with Choi Chi-won, and Choi Chi-won's calligraphy, are the main interests. Cruise has become the motive for the revival of new prestige. The traveler shows the will to assimilate Choi with him by engraving his name on the stone. The next thing interested were the Jinsangjeon and Hacsadae of Haeinsa. You can see that there was a portrait of Choi Chi-won in Jinsangjeon, and that the relocation and decay of the building, and the destruction of the building.
