벤야민의 보들레르 연구는 문학 작품에 관한 비평을 포함하는 것이기도 하지만 문학 비평이라는 한정된 영역을 넘어선 역사적인 지평으로 확장된다. 20세기의 철학자(벤야민)의 눈으로 본 19세기 보들레르의 문학에는 자본주의적인 역사적인 경험이 투영되어 있다. 벤야민은 보들레르에서 구현된 모더니티의 경험이 벤야민이 살았던 20세기 중반에서도 여전히 지속되고 있다고 본다. 자본주의적 상품 소비 체제가 약속하는 환등상(판타스마고리아)에 도취적으로 현혹되기도 하지만 그 현혹에서 깨어나는 대도시인들의 체험이 보들레르의 서정성의 토대라는 점에서, 벤야민은 보들레르에게서 마르크스주의와 만나는 사회 정치적인 계기들을 발견하려 한다. 이 글은 벤야민의 철학에서 아우라 체험과 더불어 아우라 몰락에 관한 체험이 자본주의 체제의 역사적인 요인들과 결부되어 제시될 수 있다는 점을 밝히려 한다.

Benjamin’s work on Baudelaire includes criticism on the literary work but it goes beyond the limit, and expands to a historical prospect. In the eyes of the philosopher of the 20th century, historical experience embedded in capitalism is projected in Baudelaire’s work, and its fundamental meaning exists throughout the mid-20th century. Benjamin finds social and political momentums that met with Marxism by showing one’s experience of awakening from the deception caused by ‘Phantasmagorie’ which is promised by capitalistic consumption system of goods based on lyricism of Baudelaire. This paper explains how an experience of aura and its fall in Benjamin’s philosophy are related to historical factors.
