본고는 단어의 공인화 정도에 따른 상·하위어 의미 관계를 실제적인 자료를 제시하여 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 가상화폐, 비트코인과 관련된 단어 사용의 자료를 활용하였다. 이를 통해 관련 단어의 출현빈도가 특정한 시기에 급격하게 늘어난 양상과, 출현빈도의 추이에 따른 유의미한 의미 변화 모습을 자료를 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 상표명에서의 고유명사와 보통명사의 예를 들어 상·하위어의 의미 관계가 변화하는 유형을 기술하였다. 단어의 의미는 공인화 정도에 따라 고유명사인 하위어가 일반명사인 상위어의 의미 영역까지 확대되어 사용되는 모습을 보였다. 이렇게 상·하위어의 의미 관계에 변화를 입은 단어는 언어 공동체에서 어느 정도의 공인화를 얻는가에 따라 사어가 될수도, 등재어가 될 수도 있다는 것을 밝혔다.

This paper aims to provide an actual data that shows a semantic relations of hypernym and hyponym in accordance with the institutionalization of words. To do this, word usage related to virtual currency and Bitcoin were collected and analyzed. The results have shown that the frequency of words was drastically increased at a certain time, and a significant change of meaning was observed accordingly. The present study also describes the types of meaning changes with examples of proper nouns and common nouns used in brand names. In accordance with the degree of word institutionalization, proper nouns that are hyponyms were broadly used to an extended domain of the hypernyms, common nouns. Thus, the words, which went through a change of semantic relations and meanings in hypernyms and hyponym, are associated with a degree of instutionalization in a community, and those words would be remained as either obsolete or registered words.
