이 연구의 목적은 초등학생의 ‘필자로서 자기인식’의 발달 양상을 탐색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 학생들을 대상으로 필자로서 자기인식 검사 도구를 활용하여 성별, 학년별에 따른 차이를 살펴보았다. 나아가 필자로서 자기인식의 주요 요인인 ‘사회적 평가와 기대’, ‘향상 과정’, ‘정서적 상태’에 대하여 개방형 설문과 심층적 인터뷰를 통하여 조사하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 필자로서 자기인식은 여학생이 남학생보다 더 긍정적으로 형성되어 있으며 ‘정서적 상태’ 요인에서만 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 또한 학년이 올라감에 따라 필자로서 자기인식이 감소하는 경향을 보였으나 ‘향상 과정’ 요인에서만 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 필자로서 자기인식의 학년별 차이를 구체적으로 살펴보기 위해 실시한 Tucky HSD 사후검정 결과 4-5학년, 4-6학년 사이에서 유의미한 사실을 확인하였다. 다음으로 질적 자료의 분석 결과 ‘사회적 평가와 기대’ 요인은 7가지 범주로, ‘향상 과정’ 요인은 12가지 범주로, ‘정서적 상태’ 요인은 8가지 범주로 반응 양상을 분류할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 초등학생들의 필자로서 자기인식의 수준을 가늠하고 그 양상을 실증적으로 살펴보았다는 것에 의의가 있다. 연구의 결과는 필자에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고 향후 쓰기 교육을 마련하는 데에 단초가 될 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the development of the writer’s self-perception on elementary school students according to gender and grade. For this purpose, writer’s self-perception was measured by Writer Self-Perceptions Scale(WSPS) and conducted an open-ended question survey and interview on the factors of writer’s self-perception; Social evaluation and expectation, Progress in writing, Physiological states. The main results of this study are as follows. Firstly, Girls, as a group, possess more positive attitude than boys at all grade levels, especially at the Physiological states. Secondly, the writers self-perception indicates a negative developmental trend by going up grades. There was a statistically significance in difference at the Progress in writing. Thirdly, the analysis of the qualitative data showed that Social evaluation and expectation was responding in 7 categories, while Progress in writing was in 12 categories, and Physiological states was in 8 categories. This study is expected to be extended useful information regarding students as writers and to design to ensure that students might have positive writer perceptions.
