최근 교육계에서는 제4차 산업혁명이라는 미래 사회를 향한 변화의 흐름 앞에서 학습자가 갖추어야 할 핵심 역량에 대한 논의가 중요한 화두로 제시되고 있다. 그중 본 연구에서는 학문 목적 한국어 교육에서 자기주도학습의 의미와 원리에 대해 탐색하였다. 학문 목적 한국어 교육에서 자기주도학습의 원리는 그 중요성에 비해 연구가 부족한 분야이다. 하지만 자기주도학습을 교육 현장에서 실천하고 적용하는 방안에 대한 요구는 교육계 안팎의 공통된 목소리이다. 따라서 이를 학문 목적 한국어 교육에서 어떻게 적용하고 이론화할지에 대한 토대가 마련되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 자기주도학습이 가능한 교육적 환경과 이를 실천하기 위한 원리를 탐색하였다.

The purpose of this article is to examine the meaning and principle of self-directed learning in Academic purposes in Korean language education. Since the Fourth Industrial Revolution was officially announced, the discussions and social need of self-directed learning has increased. Curiously, despite the rise of importance on self-directed learning, relatively little attention was paid to it in this field. But it has expanded the significance of practicing and developing the methods for implementation. Thus, to apply self-directed learning for Academic purposes in Korean language education, we need to consider the primal factors of self-directed learning characteristics. And we focus on the educational environment and discussed how the enhancement of self-directed learning.
