분산원장기술은 금융서비스의 디자인에 유연성을 제공할 수 있기 때문에 금융산업의 다양한 분야에서 활용될 것이며, 그 편익 역시 다양한 범위에서 발생하게 되어 일률적으로 전체 편익규모를 측정하는 것은 쉽지 않다. 현재까지 실용의 측면과 규제의 관점에서 검토되어야 할 부분이 있지만, 분산원장기술은 금융서비스 관련 조정과정이나 데이터의 공유로 인해 자동적이면서 효과적인 비즈니스 운영을 가능하게 하여 비용을 크게 절감시키고, 금융시장 참가자들의 편익을 증진시킬 수 있다. 따라서 분산원장기술이 금융인프라에 미치는 긍정적 효과를 확대시키기 위해서는 금융기관과 핀테크기업 그리고 규제기관의 이해 깊은 협업이 필요하다. 현재까지 분산원장기술의 적용에 효과를 체계적으로 분석하지 못하였으며, 해외경제연구소 및 해외금융컨설팅을 중심으로 분산원장기술 도입시 비용의 절감측면을 예상과 추정만으로 분산원장의 편익을 측정·예측하고 있는 상황이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 자본시장에서의 분산원장기술을 도입하였을 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 먼저 분산원장기술의 개념및 장단점 등을 살펴보고, 금융서비스에서의 적용 사례를 검토한다. 다음으로 현 자본시장의 특성에 따른 분산원장기술의 적용 가능성을 검토하고, 마지막으로 자본시장에서의 분산원장(Blockchain) 비용절감 효과 분석한다.

The distributed ledger technique will be used in various fields of the financial industry because it can provide flexibility in the design of financial services. It is not easy to measure the scale of total benefits across the board because they occur in a wide range. Although more considerations are required in terms of practicality and regulation, the distributed ledger technique can greatly reduce costs and increase the benefits of participants in the financial market because it enables automatic and effective business operations through the adjustment process and data sharing in relation to financial services. To expand the positive effects of the distributed ledger technique on financial infrastructure, financial institutions, fintech companies, and regulatory agencies need to understand and collaborate with one another. Until now, the effects of applying the distributed ledger technique have not been analyzed systematically. Overseas economic research institutes and financial consulting firms are estimating and predicting the benefits of introducing the distributed ledger technique only based on predicted and estimated costs savings. Thus, this study analyzes the effects of introducing the distributed ledger technique in the capital market. First, the concepts, advantages, and disadvantages of the distributed ledger technique are examined and the application cases in financial services are reviewed. Next, the applicability of the distributed ledger technique is investigated depending on the characteristics of the current capital market. Finally, the cost saving effects of distributed ledger (blockchain) in the capital market are analyzed.
