본 연구에서는 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략이 불공정한 세상에 대한 개인적인 믿음(Personal Belief in an unjust world; 이하 BUW-self)과 자아존중감간의 관계를 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 수도권에 거주하는 278명의 성인 여성을 대상으로 BUW-self, 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략, 자아존중감을 측정하였고 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략이 BUW-self와 자아존중감간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략이 높을수록, BUW-self가 자아존중감에 미치는 부정적 영향이 감소한다는 것이다. 또한 적응적 인지적 정서조절전략의 하위유형(‘수용’, ‘해결중심사고’, ‘균형있게 바라보기’, ‘긍정적 재초점’, ‘긍정적 재평가’)이 각각 BUW-self와 자아존중감간의 관계를 조절하는지 살펴보았고, 그 결과, ‘균형있게 바라보기’와 ‘긍정적 재평가’의 조절효과가 유의한 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 한계점, 후속연구를 위한 제언, 그리고 상담적 함의를 논의하였다.

The purpose of this study was to examine if adaptative cognitive emotion regulation strategies would serve as a moderator for the relationship between a personal belief in an unjust world (BUW-self) and self-esteem. For this purpose, we administered the scales of BJW, adaptative cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and self-esteem on 278 adult women living in Seoul metropolitan area and conducted regression analyses. The results indicated that adaptative cognitive emotion regulation strategies moderated the relationship between BUW-self and self-esteem. The higher the adaptive and cognitive emotion regulation strategies, the lovwer the negative impact of BUW-self on self-esteem. In addition, we investigated whether subtypes of adaptative cognitive emotion regulation strategies (‘acceptance’, ‘solution centered thinking’, ‘balanced observing’, ‘refocusing on planning’, ‘putting into perspective’, ‘positive refocusing’, and ‘positive reappraisal’) would moderate the relationship between BUW-self and self-esteem and found that ‘putting into perspective’ ‘balanced observing’ and ‘positive reappraisal’ moderated the relationship. Based on these findings, we discussed limitations, suggestions for future research and implication for counseling.
