본 연구는 다문화학부모의 공감능력이 자녀양육에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 보고 다문화학 부모의 공감능력을 높일 필요가 있다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 따라서 자녀와 서로 다른 문화권에서 아동·청소년기를 보낸 다문화학부모가 자녀와 공유할 수 있는 초등교육과정의 문학작품을 통해 정서적·인지적 공감대를 형성할 수 있는지 확인하고자 하였다. 또한 다문화학부모의 공감능력과 자녀양육의 영향관계를 파악함으로써 다문화학부모의 긍정적 양육태도에 대한 방향성과 다문화학부모를 대상으로 한 교육정책의 효과적인 방안을 제시하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 초등교육과정에 해당하는 문학작품 속 공감요소들을 분석하였으며 문학 활동 참여자를 대상으로 포커스그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 실시하였다. 또한 다문화학부모 대상으로 설문조사한 자료로 공감능력이 자녀양육에 미치는 영향을 실증·분석 하였다. 분석 결과, 교과서 문학작품 속 공감요소들은 다문화학부모의 공감능력 증대에 도움을 주었으며 이는 양육태도에도 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 공감능력과 양육태도의 영향관계도 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다문화학부모 대상 교육의 방향을 수요자 입장을 고려한 교육으로 변경할 필요가 있으며, 공감능력을 향상시켜 자녀양육에 긍정적인 영향을 미치기 위해서는 체계적이고 지속적인 교육이 필요하다는 것을 제언하였다.

This study made a start from the awareness of the problem that the empathy ability of parents of multicultural families causes a positive influence on parental rearing attitude and that empathy ability should be enhanced for this reason. The purpose of this study was to explore if parents of multicultural families, who spent their childhood and adolescence in a different cultural area from their children, can build affective sympathy through literary works and identify the influencing relationship of empathy ability and parental rearing attitude in order to suggest a directivity for the positive rearing attitude of parents of multicultural families as well as effective measures for education policy targeted on parents of multicultural families. Accordingly, Focus Group Interview (FGI) was conducted to analyze if the empathy elements in the literary works of the elementary school curriculum provided support for the increase in empathy ability and it was intended to prove and analyze the influence caused by empathy ability on the parental rearing attitude. The analysis result displayed that elements of empathy caused a positive influence on the enhancement of empathy ability of parents of multicultural families and the influencing relationship of empathy ability and parental rearing attitude showed a significant result. This study suggested that the educational policy for the parents of multicultural families should be based on their requirements and more systematic and continuous education is necessary for providing positive impacts to their parental rearing through enhancing their empathy ability.
