본 논문은 유교와 기독교를 서로 상반된 철학이나 종교로 보지 않고 두 가지의 유익하게 서로 다른 삶의 방식으로 간주하는 윤리적 관점을 취한다. 이를 바탕으로 본 논문은 유교와 기독교의 인간관계 속에 침투해 있는 왜곡된 통념들이 있는지 살펴보고, 발견되는 내용에 대해서는 삼강오륜의 변증을 하나의 해석학적 방법론의 틀이자 예로 삼아 이를 분석하는 과정을 통해 올바른 해석이 될 수 있도록 회복시켜 보고자 한다. 여기서 올바른 해석이란 기독교와 유교 상호간의 조화로운 관계적 해석을 의미하며, 이러한 방식을 적용함으로써 결론적으로 관계성에 있어서 유교와 기독교의 참된 이미지를 회복시키고자 한다.

This article takes an ethical perspective that views Confucianism and Christianity as two fruitfully distinct ways of life and considers them neither as two different philosophies nor as two separate religions. On this basis, this article seeks to recover both Confucianism and Christianity from the dialectic of the Three Bonds and Five Relationships by uncovering the distorted images that are instilled in Confucian and Christian human relationship. In a hermeneutical dimension, these distorted images are created when Confucius’ actual words are misunderstood in the interpretation of modern critics and when Jesus’ actual words are likewise misinterpreted by modern critics. This article seriously considers the process of these distortions and attempts to discover the true relational images of both Confucianism and Christianity through a harmonious hermeneutical disclosure of those distortions.
