하나님의 고난 또는 아픔에 대한 현대의 신학적 담론은 1-2차 세계대전이 후부터 본격적으로 형성되기 시작하였는데, 그 발단은 일본 루터교회의 신학자 기타모리 가조(北森嘉藏)로부터 촉발되었다. 그는 일본의 태평양 전쟁 패전 이듬해인 1946년에 『하나님의 아픔의 신학』(神の痛みの神學) 이라는 저서를 출판하였다. 그는 이 책에서 자신의 민족이 직면하고 있는 고난의 현실과 더불어 하나님의 아픔에 대한 신학적 사유를 전개하였다. 기타모리에 따르면 “복음의 마음”은 “하나님의 아픔”이다 그래서 하나님의 아픔은 하나님의 본질에 속한다. 그에게 있어서 “하나님의 아픔의 신학”은 복음에 대한 엄밀한 이해를 추구하는 신학이다 하나님의 아픔은 인간의 죄에 대한 하나님의 “분노”와 “사랑” 사이에서 발생한다. 이 일본신학자에게 있어서 십자가에서 드러난 하나님의 아픔이야말로 복음의 핵심이다. 그가 하나님의 아픔의 신학에서 개신했던 하나님의 고난의 가능성에 대한 신학적 담론은 2차 대전 종전 후 일본 국내뿐만 아니라, 서구의 수많은 신학자들에게 영향을 주었음에도 불구하고 복음의 의미를 축소시키는 문제, 성부수난의 문제, 내재적 삼위일체와 경륜적 삼위일체를 구분하지 못하는 문제와 같은 여러 가지 신학적 문제를 노출시킨다. 본 논문의 목적은 20세기의 신학에서 신 고난 담론에 적지 않은 영향을 주었던 기타모리 가조(北森嘉藏)의 『하나님의 아픔의 신학』을 분석하고，비판적으로 평가해보는데 있다.

Modern theological discourse about the pain of God began to form in earnest after the first and second world war, and its beginning was triggered by the theologian of Japan Lutheran church, Kitomori Kazoh. He published his book "Theology of Pain of God" in 1946, the year following the fall of the Pacific War. In this book, he developed the theological thinking about God's pain with the reality of the suffering facing his people. According to Guitar Mori, "the heart of the Gospel" is "the pain of God". So the pain of God belongs to the nature of God. For him, "the theology of the pain of God" is a theology that seeks a rigorous understanding of the gospel. The pain of God arises between God's "wrath" and "love" of human sin. For this Japanese theologian, the pain of God revealed on the cross is the heart of the gospel. The theological discourse about the possibility of God's suffering which he reversed in the theology of the pain of God, has several theological Problems, namely the problem of reducing the meaning of the Gospel, the problem of the Patripassianism and the problem of the failure to distinguish between the immanent Trinity and the economic Trinity in spite of influencing many theologians in the West as well as in Japan after the end of the Second World War. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and critically evaluate his "theology of pain of God", who had a profound influence on the discourses of God's pain in the 20th century theology.
