연구배경 연구 목적은 패션디자이너에 대한 국내 학술연구 동향을 파악하는 것으로, 향후 관련 연구의 방향 제시 및 기초 정보를 제공하는데 있다. 연구방법 연구방법은 문헌 조사방법이며, 국내 학위 및 학술지 논문에서 패션디자이너에 대한 총 456편을 대상으로 하였다. 연구 범위는 해당 연구가 처음 발표된 1976년부터 2018년 2월까지로 한정하여, 연대별 연구 동향, 연구 분야와 방법, 주제, 대상 디자이너의 지역 및 빈도 등을 분석하였다. 연구결과 관련 연구는 1976년을 시작으로 초기에는 활발하지 않았으나 점차 증가하였고, 4연대(2005~2011)에 크게 증가하였다. 연구 분야는 디자인과 미학, 마케팅/심리, 기타 분야로 구분되었고, 디자인 분야에 집중되었다. 연구 주제는 디자이너 작품에 대한 디자인 요소 및 유형과 관련된 디자인 특성, 미학적 측면이 큰 비중을 차지했다. 연구 방법은 사례연구, 개발연구, 문헌연구, 사례와 인터뷰 병행연구 순으로 나타났다. 주요 연구 아이템은 여성복으로 나타났고, 서구권 디자이너에 집중된 경향을 보였다. 또한 다수의 패션디자이너에 대한 연구가 진행되었지만 대부분 일회성의 연구 대상에 그쳤고, 몇몇 디자이너에 대해서만 20편 이상의 연구에서 대상으로 삼는 등 편중된 경향을 보였다. 결론 패션디자이너에 대한 인식과 이들에게 요구되는 역할이 강조되는 가운데 관련 연구는 앞으로도 지속될 것으로 예측된다. 향후 패션디자이너 연구가 변화하는 패션 환경에 부응하여 보다 활성화됨으로써 관련 연구의 저변확대가 이루어지기를 기대한다.

Background This study has a purpose to find out the domestic research trend in fashion designer. It can provide the direction and basic information for ongoing study pertaining to fashion designers. Methods Research method was based on literature review. For this, a total of 456 papers about fashion designer were extracted from domestic dissertations and academic journals. Examined range was covered from 1976 when the initial paper was first released to February, 2018. Analysis was followed on research trend by the year, area and method, theme and designer's activity region and appearance frequency. Result Relevant work was not active in the initial year 1976 but it showed an incremental pattern, continuously. In the fourth year(2005~2011), it increased largely. Research area was divided into design and aesthetics, marketing/psychology, and others. Focus was put on the design, however. Parts taking up large portion as research topic were design element about designer's work, characteristics about design type, and aesthetic observation. In the research method, case study, development research, literature review, and concurrent method of case and interview appeared in the order of frequency. Main research item regarding fashion designer was female clothing. Target designers as researched object were focused mainly on western region. Further, a good number of fashion designers were examined but most remained as one single work. Only a few were left as research object in over twenty works, indicating a lopsided result. Conclusion In recognition towards fashion designers and emphasis on their role, research is thought to follow in the future. It is expected that the research related to fashion designer spreads widely with much activation that meets the changing fashion circumstances.
