이 연구에서는 디지털 언어 지도 시스템(2009)을 중심으로 한국 방언 지도 작성의 방법론을 점검하고 그 발전적 전망을 시도하였다. 한국어 방언을 언어적ㆍ비언어적 정보의 다양한 차원에 따라 시각적으로 지도에 표시한 결과가 한국 방언 지도이다. 본 연구에서는 방언 자료가 갖는 언어 정보를 체계적이고 개방적인 방식으로 지도에 표시하는 방식을 중심으로 논의하되, 언어 정보가 갖는 형태론적 정보를 근어의 공통성, 단위 결합 단계와 결합 단위의 종류에 따라 체계화하여 보일 수 있는 방안이 수립될 수 있음을 보였다. 해석의 가능성이 방언 지도에 추가될 수 있는 개연성을 모색해 보는 전망적 반성도 계속될 것임을 제시하는 것으로 논의를 마무리하였다.

This paper aims at introducing Digital Atlas System for Korean Language(DAS4K) and reviewing the Linguistic map making methods specialized for Korean Dialect. From the start, we review and classify various linguistic informations underlying linguistic data. We check the types and classes of linguistic information needed to visualize onto linguistic atlas. There are linguistic and non-linguistic informations in the sphere of making Korean linguistic atlas. In the course of introducing DAS for Korean Language, especially Korean dialect, we layed non-linguistic information to the inner layer of the system, and for the linguistic information of Korean language we make the information free for the user’s selection. So the user of DAS for Korean Language system can combine the linguistic information onto the map for the sake of themselves freely. It would be the morphological information, inter alia structural information of word-formation that the user of the system can select in the course of map-making procedure. We continue the argument for the future system. That would be real system not the hope of in situ situation. Though the prospect is not sufficient, it is necessary to search for the alternative for Linguistic Atlas.
