이 연구는 민주주의 사회에서 언어 공동체에 참여하여 의사소통을 하는 능력을 기르는 쓰기 교육이 필요하다는 문제의식에서, 공적 장르에 대한 쓰기 교육이 필요하다고 보았다. 그리고 맥락에 따라 변화하는 장르의 특성을 고려하여, 장르를 메타적으로 이해할 수 있도록 전략적 질문을 활용한 장르인식을 쓰기 교육 방법으로 제안하였다. 전략적 질문 도출을 위해 북미수사학파의 관점에서 장르의 실제적인 구성 요소를 파악해 장르를 설명하는 프리드만(Freadman)의 논의를 참고하여, 공적 장르 쓰기 교육에 적합한 텍스트인 청와대 청원 게시판의 청원과 답변을 분석하였다. 분석된 내용을 바탕으로 구체화된 장르 인식을 위한 질문을 바탕으로 해당 청원이 왜 그렇게 작성되었는지, 어떤 문제가 있었는지를 탐구하는 과정에서 청원 장르를 학습자가 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있도록 청와대게시판의 청원과 답변에 대한 장르 인식을 활용한 공적 글쓰기 교육 방법을 구성했다. 이 연구의 한계점은 장르 인식을 위한 질문은 해당 맥락을 어떻게 읽어 내는가에 따라 달라질 수 있다는 점이다. 장르 인식을 위한 질문이 다양하게 나올 수 있기 때문에 연구에서 제안한 질문이 최선이 아닐 수 있다. 또한, 실제 수업을 통해 장르 인식을 활용한 쓰기 교육의 효과를 확인하고, 교육 방법을 정교화해야 한다.

This study suggested that writing education about public genres is necessary in the consciousness of the necessity of writing education to develop the ability to participate and communicate in language community in democratic society. In addition, we proposed genre awareness as a writing education method using strategic questions to understand the genre as a meta-understanding. In order to elicit strategic questions, based on Freadman 's discussion of the genres by analyzing genre' s genuine elements in terms of the North American New Rhetoric studies, this study analyzed petitions and their answers of the petitions on Cheongwadae’s internet bulletin board, which is appropriate for public genre writing education. Based on the analyzed contents, based on the questions for genre awareness, learners understand the petition genre in the process of exploring why the petitions were created and what the problems were. This study has the limitation that questions for genre awareness can vary depending on how the contexts are read. The questions proposed in this study may not be the best because there are many questions for genre awareness.
