본 논문은 한국의 여성결혼이민자가 갖고 있는 존재적 특수성을 이해하고 그들이 이 땅에서 자기정체성 및 자기긍정성을 확보하고 살아가는 데 필요할 다양한 경험치들 중에 ‘한국문학 읽기’에 주목하였다. 자신이 살고 있는 땅의 사회문화적 맥락과 언어가 담긴 한국문학작품을 읽는 과정은 여성결혼이민자가 자신이 놓인 시공간을 다각적으로 사유하고 수용하게 하는 밑거름이 될 것이다. 물론 한국에 거주하는 여성결혼이민자로서 여타 세계문학 읽기 활동이 주는 이점도 배제할 수 없다. 다만 본고는 그들의 존재적 특수성에 직접 연관되는 한국문학 읽기가 한국에 살고 있는 자기 자신, 가족, 사회, 한국에 대한 사유를 구체화하여 여성결혼이민자로서의 자기긍정성을 확보하는 데 유용할 것이라고 보았다. 이러한 전제를 바탕으로 여성결혼이민자의 자기긍정성 확보에 유용할 한국문학을 선택, 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to shed light on the female marriage immigrants’ inner and outer conflicts which they experience in living in South Korea. Also, it proposes to read the Korean literature for them to promote the self positivity by living as the transnational existence. If we assume that their living spaces are in South Korea, they are given more than two cultural backgrounds regardless of their countries of origin. They could not no more assert the identify which is obtained from their countries of origin and cultures and live as the perfect Korean existence. They are enough diasporic in point of having the immigrant experiences and more than two cultural backgrounds. Therefore, it could be the perfect process of understanding their various distinct characteristics when all we try to figure out the way to have the self positivity for them as diasporic existence. It could be another alternative to establish their subjecthood in Korean society as well.
