이 연구에서는 시각장애를 주제로 STEAM 프로그램을 개발하고 대구·경북지역에 위치한 4개 중학교 246명을 대상으로 적용하였다. STEAM 프로그램은 눈의 구조와 빛 개념을 중심개념으로 하고 시각장애에 대한 내용을 융합하여 총 5차시의 교수 학습 자료로 개발되었다. 프로그램 전과 후에 수학 및 과학 흥미도, 소통과 배려, 이공계 진로선택과 장애 관심에 대한 설문을 실시하였다. 프로그램 적용 결과, 학생들의 수학 및 과학에 대한 흥미가 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였고, 장애에 대한 관심도 긍정적으로 변하였다. 소통과 배려, 이공계 진로선택의 정의적 영역 측면에서도 학생들의 응답은 대체로 긍정적인 것으로 조사되었다.

In this study, the STEAM program about visual impairment was developed and applied to 246 middle school students from 4 schools in Daegu and Gyeongbuk region. Teaching and learning materials for STEAM program were developed for 5 class hours about visual impairment as a core concept which covers the structure of eyes and the concept of light in convergence with the contents of the visual impairment. Before and after instruction, affective attributes including students’ interest in math and science, communication, consideration, science-engineering career choice, and interest in disability were surveyed. As a result, the program positively influenced students' interest in disability and confirmed the significant effect on the improvement of students’ interest in math and science, and awareness of science and engineering career.
