이 논문은 도산 안창호가 작사한 계몽 가요의 전반적인 양상과 특징을 살펴본 것이다. 본고에서 제시한 안창호 작사 계몽 가요는 총 16곡이다. 이 중 곡조는 달라도 노랫말이 같은 곡이 있어 결과적으로 총 15곡의 목록을 제시하였다. 2장에서는 ‘곡조를 차용한 곡’과 ‘창작곡’으로 나누어 안창호 작사 계몽 가요의 음악적 특징을 살펴보았다. 곡조만 차용한 경우, 찬송가나 서양 국가의 곡조를 빌려온 예가 많았다. 창작곡의 경우, 이상준, 이성식, 김세형, 정사인이 작곡한 것을 확인하였다. 특히 <부모은덕가>의 경우, 이제까지 작곡자가 안 밝혀졌었는데 당대 자료를 토대로 정사인일 것으로 추정하였다. 또한 <부모은덕가>가 유성기 음반으로 발매되었던 정황도 처음으로 언급하였다. 안창호가 작사한 계몽 가요의 음악적인 특징을 보면, 주로 5음계를 활용하였고 4/4박자가 우세하게 나타났다. 당시에는 4.4조의 가사체가 유행했는데, 계몽 가요에서도 4.4조가 많이 나타난다. 4.4조의 노랫말을 담기에 4/4박자가 유리해서 4/4박자가 많이 나타났던 것으로 보인다. 안창호가 작사한 작품은 크게 세 가지 주제로 나누어 살펴볼 수 있다. 효도, 교육, 애국이 그것이다. 이 중에서 ‘애국’을 주제로 한 노래가 가장 많았다. 게다가 효도와 교육을 주제로 한 노래일지라도 결국 애국을 지향한 작품으로 볼 수 있다. 따라서 안창호가 작사한 작품은 대체로 ‘애국’을 지향하였다. 그런데 애국을 지향할지라도 무조건으로 조국을 찬양하지는 않았다. 그 보다는 오히려 조국과 나를 동급으로 놓고 그에 대한 사랑을 그렸다고 하는 편이 맞을 것이다. 그리고 애국을 강조하기 위해 역사적 인물을 소환하고 일제를 적으로 간주하여 독립의식을 고취하였다. 본고는 안창호가 작사한 계몽 가요를 본격적으로 살펴보았다는 데에 의의를 지닌다. 하지만 안창호가 작사한 작품이 더 많을 것으로 추정되는 바, 앞으로 이에 대한 보완과 보강이 필요하다. 또한 본고에서 살펴본 안창호 작사 계몽 가요의 특징이 단순히 안창호 작품만의 특성인지의 여부는 여타 계몽 가요와의 비교 속에서 선명해질 것이다. 다만 이제까지 언급되지 않았던 안창호 작사 작품을 제시하고 특징을 살펴보고, 기존 논문의 오류를 바로잡은 것으로 본고의 소임을 마무리하기로 한다.

This paper looks at the overall aspects and features of the enlightenment ka-yo written by Dosan Ahn Chang-ho. In this paper, a list of 16 songs written by Ahn Chang-ho were presented. Among them, two songs are composed with the same words, and a list of 15 songs were presented. In chapter 2, the songs, which were divided into songs borrowed from a tune and songs created, were examined at the musical features. Songs borrowed from tunes have generally borrowed hymns or Western national anthem. In the case of creative songs, Lee Sang-jun, Lee Sung-sik, Kim Se-hyung and Jung Sa-in were confirmed to have composed the songs. In particular, Bumoeundeokga, whose composer has not been revealed so far, was assumed to be composed by Jung Sa-in. In terms of music, they mainly used the five notes, and the four-quarters of a beat were dominant. The works written by Ahn Chang-ho can be divided into three main themes. They are filial piety, education, and patriotism. Among them, most of them were songs with the theme of “Patriotism.” In addition, even a song about filial piety and education can be seen as a work aimed at patriotism. Therefore, the work by Ahn Chang-ho was largely aimed at “patriotism.” However, he did not praise his country unconditionally, even though it was composed of the lyrics of his love for the country. Rather, it would be fair to say that he drew his love for his country and himself in the same class. Historical figures were summoned to emphasize patriotism, and Japan was regarded as an enemy and promoted a sense of independence in his songs. This paper is meaningful in that the founding of the enlightenment ka-yo written by Dosan Ahn Chang-ho was investigated. However, it is estimated that there are many more works written by Ahn Chang-ho. In the future, it needs to be supplemented and reinforced.
