This paper searches for a trans-boundary scheme for Korean language education. “Dividing” is an outcome of the modern, mechanical thinking mode that emerged with the Industrial Revolution and had its theoretical foundation in reductionism. However, today we know that reductionism cannot be applied to humans and social organizations. Besides, we are on the verge of the 4th Industrial Revolution whose distinctive feature would be hyper-connectivity. Therefore, we pay attention to the concepts of consilience, hybridism, fusion, and convergence, and propose that Korean language education needs creative convergent talent and a trans-boundary scheme. There are two ways of realizing such a scheme: combining and transcending. This paper uses the concept of “transcending” to reconceptualize education and language acquisition. At present, we teach the lowest-level knowledge and skills in a dividing-centered educational system. This gives rise to problems, not only because there are too many volumes of learning materials, but also because it does not lead to inner growth, which is the intrinsic aim of education. So the purpose of Korean language education should be to help learners become ideal human beings, and not to merely teach them knowledge and skills. This can enable them to efficiently use righteous, kindhearted, and beautiful language. The person who can develop these language abilities should be considered an ideal human being.
