This thesis examines how adolescent novels can be used for value education. In Oz’s Clothing Bins, we see how Doroshi perceives social realities when she bonds with a homeless North Korean defector and a mother who has lost her son. Thus, Dorothy’s love bridges the gap between the “self” and the “other.”
Another adolescent novel, Wizard Bakery, sees the protagonist establishing his self-identity while experiencing a different life in the magical space of a bakery. This novel can help learners understand the value of 'choice' and 'responsibility.'
Therefore, this study fills the gap between recognizing readers’ learning needs and fulfilling them through value education by using adolescent novels as teaching materials The above-mentioned works can help readers learn values that can enable them to deal with problems that exist in the here and now.
