최근 국어사 교육은 학습자 중심성을 수용하여 학습자가 과거의 언어에 대해 느낄 수 있는 거리감을 극복하려는 노력을 보여 왔다. 이러한 노력은 2015 국어과 교육과정의 고등학교 1학년의 성취 기준에서 국어의 변천 자체를 이해하는 것이 아니라 국어가 변화하는 실체임을 이해하는 데 방점을 두는 식의 변화를 끌어냈다. 하지만 이를 실현하는 교과서에서는 이전의 교수·학습 내용과의 큰 차이를 보이지 못한 채 해당 성취 기준을 달성하기에 충분한 교육 내용을 마련하지 못하고 있다. 특히 국어가 변화하는 실체임을 이해하는 국어의 역사성 교육에서 과거와 현재, 미래를 언어 체계 내에서 아우르지 못하고 국어의 위상 층위와 혼동하여 교육 내용을 연결하는 문제가 있었다. 또한 국어사적 지식이 현대 국어와 관련되는 지점에 대한 풍부한 예시를 보이지 못하고, 또한 이러한 지식이 미래의 언어를 결정짓는 방향도 보이지 못하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 언중이 과거의 언어에 대해 가지고 있는 인상을 바탕으로 높임 표현을 중점 삼아 과거와 현재, 나아가 미래까지 아우를 수 있는 국어의 역사성 교육 내용 마련의 가능성을 제언하였다.

The Korean language curriculum was revised in 2015 to allow for a learner-centered teaching method so that the students of Korean language history can narrow down their historical distance. In the revised curriculum, the achievement criteria focus on understanding the changing nature of Korean language. However, the content of the textbooks has not been revised in a manner that would have been essential for supporting the new approach of teaching and differentiating it from the conventional one. Thus, the requirements of the achievement criteria has been left unaddressed. One of the issues that emerged was related to the process of elucidating the dynamic nature of the Korean language system―it links the past and the present to the levels of the language rather than encompass the past, present, and future within the language system itself. It is necessary that we present enriching examples that can help the students in relating their knowledge about the history of the Korean language to that of modern Korean language. Furthermore, the way in which gaining such knowledge can influence Korean language in the future also needs to be evaluated. In light of this, our study suggests the possibility of preparing such an education system for teaching the history of Korean language that can encompass the past, present and future and emphasize the enhanced usage of expressions.
