이 글은 연군시조에 보이는 다양한 여성 목소리를 살펴보고, 여성 목소리가 지니는 효과를 정리해 보고, 여성 목소리의 연군시조를 문학교실에서 어떻게 교육하고 활용하면 좋을지를 짚어본 글이다. 연군시조에서 말하는 이의 성별을 읽는 이가 가늠해 보게 하되, 연군의 표지를 찾게 하는 활동이 도움이 될 수 있다. 연군의 표지가 없고 여성임을 뚜렷하게 나타내주는 말이 없는 작품들의 화자의 성별 가늠은 늘 열어두어야 한다. 그리고 연군의 노래에서 지은이는 왜 여성의 탈을 쓰고 노래하는지 읽는 이나 학습자들이 그 의도를 헤아려 보게 하면 더 깊이 있는 감상으로 이어질 수 있다. 더 나아가 시나 노래에서 말하는 이가 이러한 말투나 목소리로 노래하면 여성이라고 규정하고 여성 화자의 노래는 대개 이런 특징을 지니며 이것이 우리 문학의 전통이라고까지 설명하는 문학 교육은 다시 생각해 보아야 할 것이다.

This article examines various female voices in Yeongun-Sijo, summarizes their effects, and discusses how to educate and use the Yeongun-Sijo in female voices in the literature classroom. While having the reader guess the speaker’s gender in the Yeongun-Sijo, an activity to make readers look for signs indicating missing the king can be helpful. The gender distinction of the speaker should be left open for works that do not have signs of missing the king or those with no words that clearly indicate that the speaker is a woman. And in a song about missing the king, if teachers lead readers or learners to think about why the authors are wearing women’s masks, this can lead to deeper appreciation. Furthermore, reconsideration should be given to literature education where, if the speaker of a poem or song signs in a certain tone or voice, the speaker is defined as a woman, where it is taught that a female speaker’s songs usually have certain characteristics, and where it is even explained that this is the tradition of our literature.
