기존 연구에 따르면, 가타카나 표기는 작품 등의 가상세계의 <외국인 캐릭터>를 비롯한 <규범에서 벗어난 캐릭터>를 나타내는 요소로써 활용된다고 하였지만, 문법 레벨과 문장 레벨, 어휘 레벨이 뒤섞여 제대로 된 전체상을 제시하지 못하였다. 본고에서는 전후 이후의 만화, 소설, 게임 등의 매체에 나타나는 인물들의 발화가 가타카나로 표기되는, <문장 레벨>에 한정한 용례를 수집하여 어떠한 캐릭터 요소를 나타내는지를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 <외국인 캐릭터>나 <인외(人外) 캐릭터>를 나타내는데 가타카나 표기가 효과적으로 사용되었지만, 이들을 나타내는 문법적 방식이 존재하였으므로, 가타카나는 또 다른 레벨의 캐릭터를 나타낼 가능성이 있다는 가설을 세웠다. 그 결과, <문장 레벨>에 준하지 않는 발화 내부의 불규칙적인 가타카나 표기가 나타나는 용례가 다수 발견되었고, 이것은 <비정상적인 캐릭터의 상태>를 효과적으로 나타내고 있었다. 이를 토대로 본고에서는, 발화의 가타카나 표기가 <외국인 캐릭터>나 <인외 캐릭터>를 포괄하는 상위 레벨에서의, <작품 내의 규범에 준하지 않는 상태>를 나타내는 역할을 하고 있다고 결론지었다. 본고는 <문장 레벨>을 중심으로 바라보았기에, 추후 <어휘 레벨>을 포함한 거시적 관점, 또 전전(戰前)의 자료를 포함한 통시적 관점을 통해 전체상을 파악해야한다고 생각하지만, 이 사안에 관해서는 추후 연구과제로 한다.
According to the existing research, KATAKANA is used as an element representing < abnormal character > including < foreign character > in virtual worlds such as works, but the grammar level, sentence level, and vocabulary level are mixed, so couldn`t present a proper image. In this paper, we looked into what character elements are represented by collecting examples specific to < sentence level >, in which utterances of characters appearing in media such as post-war cartoons, novels, and games are expressed in KATAKANA.
KATAKANA was effectively used to represent < foreign character > or < foreign character >, but since there was a grammatical way of representing them, it was hypothesized that KATAKANA could represent another level of characters. As a result, many usages of irregular KATAKANA in utterances that do not correspond to the sentence level were found, which effectively represented the status of an abnormal character. Based on this, it was concluded that KATAKANA of utterance played a role in representing < state not conforming to norm in work > at upper level encompassing < foreign character > or < foreign character >. This article looked at < Sentence Level >, so I think that we should grasp the whole image through macroscopic view including < Vocabulary level > and temporal view including prewar data. Will be the subject of further research.
