이 글에서는 경북의 중부 지역인 의성지역의 ㅂ, ㅅ, ㄷ 불규칙 용언 어간의 기저형의 차이를 살펴보는 것이 목적이다. 의성의 서부와 동부는 ㅂ-불규칙 어간이 기저형에 있어 가장 큰 차이를 보인다. 그 다음으로 ㅅ-불규칙 어간과 ㄷ-불규칙 어간의 순서로 동부와 서부 간에 기저형의 차이를 보인다. ㅂ-불규칙 어간의 경우 동부 지역은 모두 /Xㅂ-/을 보이나, 서부 지역은 1음절 어간은 /X{ㅂ-ㅜ}-/, /Xㆆ-/로 존재하고, 2음절 어간은 복수 기저형 /Xσ(C)V{ㅂ-ø}-/로 존재한다. ㅅ-불규칙 용언 어간의 경우 ㅂ-불규칙 용언 어간에 비하여 서부와 동부의 차이가 크게 나지 않는다. 이들 용언은 전체적으로 후음 말음 어간과 ㅅ 말음 어간으로 기저형이 존재하며 모두 단일 기저형이다. ㄷ-불규칙 용언 어간의 경우는 서부와 동부의 차이를 보이지 않았다. 다만 ‘눋다’ 등 대부분의 ㄷ-불규칙 어간은 복수 기저형 /X{ㄷ-ㄹㆆ}-/로 존재하나, 어간 ‘싣다’만은 경북 동북부 지역의 영향을 받아 단일 기저형 /Xㄹㆆ-/로 변화하였다. 이러한 과정은 음변화, 재분석, 평준화 등의 요인이 작용한 것으로 보인다.

In this paper, I deal with underlying forms of p, s, t-irregular stems in Uiseong subdialect. There are main differences between eastern and western areas in Uiseong, concerning with p, s, t-irregular stems. In terms of irregular stems, p-irregular stems exist as the type of single underlying form, /Xp-/ in eastern area. In western area, there are multiple underlying form, /X{p-u}-/ and single underlying form, /Xʔ-/ concerning with single syllable stems and we can see multiple underlying form, /Xσ(C)V{p-∅}-/ with two or more syllables. But in terms of s-irregular stems, there are common single underlying forms, /Xh-/, /Xʔ-/, /Xs-/ in both the eastern and western areas. Finally, t-irregular stems are mainly shown multiple underlying form, /X{t-lʔ}-/, except 'sit-(to burden)', that is changed single underlying form, /Xlʔ-/. The main factors that have caused these changes of underlying forms are sound change, reanalysis, leveling.
