A memory of Itou Hirobumi is restructured in earnest with 20th anniversary of his death in1929. In other words, he was lightened as ‘a hero’ who died tragically in dedicating to a peace for Japan and Joseon not to a collapse of Korean Empire and an instigator of the invasion to Joseon. In 1932, as “Bakmun temple” was built, the remembrance of him began to take shape. This place was reformed as the sights for paying respect with ‘Joseon Shrine·Japanese shinto shrine’. In 1938, when Wartime-mobilization began, reaching 30th anniversary of Itou'sdeath, the group of (pro-Japanese) former intellectuals who was a contemporary of Itou commemorated his death and wrote poems about praising his charitable deeds with Japanese and offered it to the dead. The first book of memorial poems on which Japanese and former intellectuals of Joseon, a colony, ‘collaborated’ was born after Itou's death. This book of poetry is derived from Itou's poems that expressed “Being concerned about the country and being devoted to the king(憂國忠君)” and it contains 80 poems that 49 Japanese and 31 people of Joseon wrote. The average age of people of Joseon was 65.5 so they were considered as elders as a generation in the period of empire of Korea. In other words, the Japanese Empire established the legitimacy by lightening Itou through “words” from the generation who directly experienced Itou. They who still used Chinese letter as a written language(文語) left poems that Itou's time was comparable to Tang-Song(唐宋) Period when civil administration was frequent or Itou was praised as the hero of the day through Sino-Korean poetry. They are elders who were born with the baptism of the tradition of Josen Dynasty and lived from the Residency-General to the collapse of the Japanese Empire and also typical former intellectuals of the time who had conformed to the colonial power. Such a point of these are ‘expressed’ in their poetry as well. Their poetry that reached the twilight ‘the official writers and artists of colony who were born as a literary man of Joseon’ speaks the one aspect of ‘the crumpled portrait’ of former intellectuals who had lived through Japanese colonial era and ‘Chinese literature that lost its identity’ seized by a colonial power.
