일제말 일본인과의 연애와 결혼을 소재로 한 소설들은 ‘내선일체’가 부상되었던 배경 아래 발생했다. 이 논문에서는 대만이라는 비교대상을 도입하여 1938년 11월부터 1945년 8월까지 발표된 내선연애·결혼 소설을 총체적으로 검토함으로써 그 전체적인 특징을 추출하고, 더 나아가 ‘내선일체’와 ‘내대일여’에 대한 조선과 대만의 수용 차이와 결부하여 소설에 투사된 식민지 작가의 ‘내선일체’ 인식을 조명하고자 한다. ‘내대일여’가 실제로 일상 속으로 침투했던 대만에서 대만인은 오히려 일본인과의 절대적인 간극을 확인하게 되고 ‘내대일여’에 대한 관망적인 태도를 취했다. 그 결과 대만인 남성이 일본 문화를 상징한 일본 여성에게 사랑을 품고 있다가 절대적인 민족적 장벽에 대한 강한 의식 때문에 스스로 포기한다는 양식이 내대연애·결혼 소설의 공통양식이 되었다. ‘내선일체’의 욕구를 내면화하지 않았던 조선에서 ‘내선일체’ 과제는 일상적인 차원의 문제가 되지 못했다. 내선연애·결혼 소설은 ‘내선일체’의 폭력적 본질, 즉 전쟁 수행을 위했다는 강한 목적성에 대한 강박의식을 드러냈다. 식민지배관계를 소설화했던 한편, 추상적 이데올로기적인 차원에 머물러 있어 상징적인 의미가 강했다. 동화의 검토가 아니라 식민의 메타포가 된 것을 내선연애·결혼 소설의 특징으로 지적할 수 있다.

Novels dealing with Japanese-Korean romances or marriages during the late Japanese colonial period appeared under the background of ‘Naesunilche[內鮮一體]’. This article will survey these novels which published during November, 1938 to August, 1945 by comparing with Taiwanese novels, in order to summarize the main features, and study the colonial authors' viewpoints about ‘Naesunilche’. In Taiwan, ‘Neitaiyiru[內臺一如]’ had invaded into Taiwanese' daily life, but Taiwanese confirmed the insurmountable distance between Japanese and showed a wait-and-see attitude toward ‘Neitaiyiru’. As a result, Taiwanese men fell in love for Japanese women who were the symbol of Japanese culture, and then gave up their love in their own initiative became the common form of Taiwanese novels. In Korea where the desire for ‘Naesunilche’ had not been internalized, ‘Naesunilche’ was not an issue in daily life, and Novels showed an obsession with the violence of ‘Naesunilche’. We can say that the feature of these novels was that they were metaphors for the colonial relationship, but not discusses about assimilation.
