본고에서는 형태 층위에서 나타나는 명사 병렬구성을 대상으로 하여, 이들의 형태적·의미적 특성에 대해 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 2장에서는 ‘단어성’, ‘등재성’, ‘자연성’ 이상의 세 가지 판별 기준을 상정하고 이에 부합하는 표현들을 제시하였다. 또한 이러한 표현을 사용하는 화자의 동기가 무엇인지에 주목하여, 화자들은 하위 개념을 나타내는 요소들로부터 그들의 상위 개념을 표현하고자 명사 병렬구성을 사용한다고 보았다. 3장에서는 명사 병렬구성의 의미적 특성을 살펴보면서, 병렬구성을 구성하고 있는 요소들의 의미가 그 전체의 의미에 어떻게 반영되는지에 주목하여 하위 유형을 나누어보고자 하였다. 그 결과 ‘[+합성성], [+정합성]’의 특성을 지닌 병치적 병렬구성, ‘[-합성성]’의 특성을 지닌 융합적 병렬구성을 상정할 수 있었으며, ‘[+합성성], [-정합성]’의 특성을 지닌 표현들은 정의적 시험문을 통해 다기능적 병렬구성, 중간적 병렬구성, 가산적 병렬구성, 승산적 병렬구성 이상의 4가지로 세분할 수 있었다. 다음으로 4장에서는 명사 병렬구성의 형태적 특성을 살펴보면서, 병렬구성을 형성할 때 병렬소의 일부를 생략하여 축약된 형태로 사용되는 것들이 존재한다는 점에 주목해 보고자 하였다. 그 결과 축약형이 형성되기 위해서는 병렬소들 사이에 공통된 요소가 존재해야 하는 것뿐만 아니라 구조적인 조건과 의미적인 조건까지도 함께 만족시켜야 한다는 점을 확인하였다. 또한 이러한 조건들을 모두 만족시키는 경우에는 축약 현상이 어느 정도 생산적으로 나타난다는 점도알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this paper was to examine the formal and semantic characteristics of nominal coordinate constructions on the level of morphology. In Chapter 2, three criteria for discrimination are set: wordhood, listedness, and naturality. And the expressions that meet these criteria are presented. Also, paying attention to what the speaker's motivation is to use these expressions, the speakers use nominal coordinate constructions to express superior concepts from the coordinands. In Chapter 3, we looked at the semantic characteristics of nominal coordinate constructions and tried to divide subtypes by paying attention to how the meanings of the coordinands constituting nominal coordinate construction are reflected in the meanings of the whole. As a result, it was possible to set up juxtapositional coordinate constructions with features of [+compositionality] and [+coherence] and fusional coordinate constructions with features of [-compositionality]. Expressions with the features of [+compositionality] and [-coherence] were subdivided into four categories: multifunctional coordinate constructions, intermediate coordinate constructions, additive coordinate constructions, and multiply coordinate constructions through definitional test sentences. In Chapter 4, we looked at the formal characteristics of nominal coordinate constructions, noting that some of the coordinands were abbreviated when forming coordinate constructions. As a result, in order to form a abbreviation, it was confirmed that not only a common element should exist among coordinands, but also structural and semantic conditions must be satisfied together. In addition, when all of these conditions are satisfied, it can be seen that the abbreviation phenomenon is somewhat productive.
