본 연구의 목적은 실험음성학적 차원에서의 한국어 단모음인 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/에 대해서 살펴보는 것이다. 특히 한국인과 민족에 따른 인도네시아인 한국어 학습자가 발화한 한국어 단모음인 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/의 음향음성학적 특징을 밝히려고 한다. 한국인이 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/ 발음을 실제로 어떻게 하는지 분석해 민족에 따른 인도네시아인의 발음을 어떻게 교정할 수 있는지, 그 방안을 찾고자 한다. 선행 연구들에 따르면 한국어 단모음인 /ㅓ/는 대응되는 인도네시아어 단모음이 없어 대부분 연구들은 인도네시아인 학습자들이 /ㅓ/와 /ㅗ/로 혼동하여 발음한다고 밝혔다. 그러나 인도네시아인 학습자의 한국어 발화에는 인도네시아의 국어인 인도네시아어뿐만 아니라 학습자들이 가장 먼저 습득하는 민족어의 영향 또는 간섭을 받을 수 있다. 한국인과 민족에 따른 인도네시아인 한국어 학습자의 단모음의 발화 포먼트(F1과 F2)를 측정하여 분석한 결과, 자바계가 발화한 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/의 F1과 F2가 다르게 나타나서 자바계 화자들은 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/를 발화할 때 구별해서 발화할 수 있다고 본다. 그러나 순다계가 발화한 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/의 F1 값에 차이가 없어 순다계 화자들의 경우는 /ㅗ/와 /ㅓ/를 혼동해서 발화하는 경향이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 또한 자바계화자들이 한국어 /ㅓ/를 문제없이 발화할 수 있으나 순다계 화자는 자바계 화자에 비해 /ㅓ/를 발화할 때 어려움을 겪는 것으로 볼 수 있다.

This research aims at analyzing the differences in Korean monophthongs pronunciation between Korean natives and Indonesian tribe-varied people who learn Korean. It focuses on two monophthongs which are /o/ (/ㅗ/) and /Λ/ (/ㅓ/). The objects in this research are the Korean natives and the Korean learners as well coming from Indonesia’s Javanese and Sundanese. Based on the analysis of the formants (F1 and F2) of the monophthongs /o/ (/ㅗ/) and /Λ/ (/ㅓ/), pronounced by Korean natives and Indonesia’s Javanese and Sundanese, it can be said that Javanese are able to pronounce both monophthongs accurately and differently. Meanwhile, the Sundanese are not able to distinguish both monophtongs accurately.
