이 글은 설화 대중화에 기여할 수 있는 설화 아카이브 라키비움 실현을 위한 연구사전단계로 설화 아카이브 현황을 먼저 점검하고 설화 아카이브 실태 분석을 통해 현상황에서의 문제를 파악한 뒤 설화 아카이브 구축 방향과 설화 아카이브 라키비움 실현 가능성을 살피고자 하였다. 현재까지 구축된 국내 설화 아카이브는 크게 설화 데이터베이스의 내용 구성방식에 따른 유형과 아카이브 관리 주체와 운용방식에 따른 유형으로 분류할 수 있다. 전자는 설화 구술 현장에서 채록한 원문 그대로를 데이터베이스화하여 서비스를 제공하는 ‘설화 원문 아카이브’와 각 설화에 대한 지식 정보를 재가공하여 서비스를 제공하는 ‘사전형 설화 지식 정보 아카이브’가 있다. 후자는 여러 기관의 협력과 데이터베이스 공유를 통해 서비스가 이루어지는 ‘통합형 설화 아카이브’와 각 기관·단체에서 개별적으로 자료를 확보하여 서비스를 제공하는 ‘개별형 설화 아카이브’가 있다. 설화 아카이브 실태를 분석한 결과 설화 자료의 양·질적 충실성과 신뢰성 결여와 설화 아카이브 간의 자료 공유와 연계 차단의 문제가 드러났다. 설화 아카이브 문제점을 보완하고 설화 아카이브가 기록관으로서의 기능을 수행하려면 개별 사이트에서 분산되어 관리하는 설화 자료의 공유를 통한 원스톱 검색 서비스 시스템이 마련되어야 한다. 설화 종합 DB의 성격을 지닌 설화 아카이브가 구축되면 설화 아카이브와 박물관, 도서관, 미술관의 복합 기능을 수행하는 라키비움 실현이 가능할 것으로 본다. 가상이지만 설화 아카이브의 <온라인 전시> 실제적 구상을 통해 그 실현 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 설화 아카이브 온라인 라키비움은 예술, 문화 공간의 경계, 학문 간의 경계, 세대 간의 경계, 과거와 현재의 경계를 허물고 융합적 기능을 수행함으로써 다양한 교육적 효과를 만들어 낼 것으로 전망한다.

The main purpose of this study is to realize the larchiveum (a combination of the words “Library”, “Archives” and “Museum”) which can contribute to popularize folktales. For this, it needs to examine the current situation of Korean folktale archive as a preliminary stage of this study. Next, it attempts to grasp the problems of current archives in Korea through the actual analysis of Korean folktales archive. On this basis, this study intends to address the implementation strategy and practicalities for the Korean folktale larchiveum. The folktale archives currently established in Korea can be divided into two large groups. One is the type according to the structure of the folktale database contents, and the other is the type by archives’ management and operation method. The former is ‘the original folktale archive’ which provides a database of original texts collected at the Korean folktale scenes, and ‘the dictionary type of folktale knowledge information archive’ which reprocesses and provides knowledge and information about each folktale. The latter is ‘the interactive type of folktale archive’ which are serviced through the cooperation of various organization and sharing of databases, and ‘the individual type of folktale archive’ in which each institutions and organizations individually secure data and provide services. After analyzing the real condition of Korean folktales archives, it shows the lack of fidelity and reliability of Korean folktales database in both quantitatively and qualitatively, and a new challenge of blocking the sharing and linkage of database between Korean folktale archives has surfaced. To solve this problem and let the archive perform the function as a repository, One-Stop folktale search system by sharing folktale database distributed and managed at individual web sites needs to be established. Once the comprehensive database archives of Korean folktales have been established, it will be possible to realize the larchiveum which performs a complex function of a folktale archive and a museum, a library, and an art gallery. Although it is virtual, a realistic possibility is confirmed through the practical idea of < Online Exhibition > of the folktale archive. Online Korean Folktale Larchiveum is expected to break down the demarcation between art and culture, academic boundaries, generational boundaries, and boundaries of the past and present. It also expects to produce a variety of educational effects by performing convergent functions as Korean folktale archives.
