이 연구는 4차 산업혁명의 도래에 따라 대학의 준비상태를 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 양적 및 질적 분석 방법을 활용한 혼합적 접근방법을 채택하여 다각검증을 통한 연구결과의 신뢰도를 확보하고자 하였다. 양적 분석방법은 대학의 비전 설정 등 6가지 변수에 4차 산업혁명과 관련된 전문 용어가 포함된 경우 내용 분석(Contents Analysis)방법과 설문지를 이용한 반구조화 인터뷰(온라인 인터뷰)를 통한 실증분석을 하였다. 분석 결과 18개 WCC 대학 중 1개 대학을 제외하고는 모두 4차 산업혁명 혁신과제를 추진하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이런 결과는 로저스의 혁신 확산모델에 비추어 WCC 대학이 혁신의 초기 채택자로서 4차 산업혁명에 대한 여론 선도층의 역할을 하고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 한편, WCC 대학의 요구분석 결과 정부의 재정지원이 가장 필요한 것으로 나타났고 그 다음으로 수업연한의 유연화로 나타났다. 이러한 조사 결과를 바탕으로, 본 연구에서는 대학경영의 CEO인 총장과 구성원들이 4차 산업혁명 대응의 시급성인식, 대학 발전계획과 교육과정에 4차 산업혁명 혁신의 내용 포함 등 대학 내부적 변화를 재점검하는 계기를 제공하였다. 아울러, 전문대학이 미래산업 수요에 대응할 수 있도록 재정지원 및 학제 유연화 정책 결정 등 외부적 여건 조성도 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the readiness of Korean Universities in the wake of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. For this purpose, the researcher adopted a hybrid approach using quantitative and qualitative analytical methods to secure the reliability of the research results through multiple verification. The results showed that all but one of the 18 WCC Universities participated in the 4^th Industrial Revolution innovation activities. These results suggest that WCC University is acting as a leader in the 4^th Industrial Revolution as an early adopter of innovation in light of Rogers' diffusion model of innovation. On the other hand, the WCC University's demand analysis showed that the government's financial support was the most necessary, followed by the softening of the academic year. Based on these findings, this study provided an opportunity for the presidents and managers of University management to review internal changes such as the recognition of the urgency of responding to the 4^th Industrial Revolution and the contents of the 4^th Industrial Revolution innovation in the University development plan and curriculum. provided. In addition, it proposed the creation of external conditions such as financial support and decision making for interdisciplinary flexibility so that Universities (Colleges) can respond to future industrial demand.
