본 연구는 장기요양보호 노인을 돌보는 가족 돌봄제공자들이 노인 돌봄 과정에서 경험하는 부양부담의 실태와 적응 과정을 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 G광역시에 거주하는 가족 돌봄제공자 8명을 대상으로 심층면접 방식으로 자료를 수집한 후 질적사례연구 접근으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 부양부담의 적응 과정은 31개의 개념, 13개의 주제, 3개의 범주로 구성되었다. 구체적인 범주는 ‘부양부담의 영향요인’, ‘부양부담의 실태’, ‘자원의 활용’이었으며, 특히 자원의 활용을 통해 부양부담을 완화하고 휴식과 재충전 그리고 적응의 효과를 거두는 것으로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과에 근거하여 가족 돌봄제공자의 부양부담을 완화시키고 적응에 기여할 수 있는 공식 지원 및 비공식 지원 방안을 제시하였다. 아울러 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구의 필요성을 제안하였다.

The purpose of the present study was to understand determinants of care burden and adaptation of the family caregivers caring for the elderly in need of long-term care. Data were collected from in-depth interviews with 8 family caregivers in G Metropolitan City, and were analyzed using qualitative case study method. As the result of the study, 31 concepts, 13 themes, and 3 categories were derived. More specifically, 3 categories were ‘determinants of care burden’, ‘current state of care burden’, ‘use of resources’. Based on the results of the study, formal and informal interventions were proposed to alleviate the care burden and enhance the coping and adaptation of the caregivers. Finally, due to methodological limitations of the present study, the need for further research was also provided.
