The universality in modern architecture leading to standardization of the region has resulted in the loss of architectural place. Kenneth Framton's critical regionalism, which emerged as an alternative solution was presented as a practical alternative with regional characteristics. These characteristics of critical regionalism was also found in the exhibition architecture space of Itami Jun, who pursued his own modernity based on the reinterpretation of tradition. The characteristics of forming place, the tectonic form, and the tactile sensation in critical regionalism, are analyzed in the architecture of Itami Jun, seeking to integrate with the natural environment and pursuing various senses of communication through local materials of original tectonic construction. Itami Jun's architecture constructing core meaning and essential spirit of architecture may contribute as an alternative method of modern architecture to restore local identity.
