이 글은 <화문록> 속 시비 난화의 재현 양상을 살펴보고 그러한 재현 방식의 서사적 기능과 의미를 규명해보고자 한 것이다. 국문장편소설 <화문록>은 화경, 이혜란, 호홍매 세 사람의 부부갈등과 처처갈등을 다룬 작품이다. 이 글에서는 이 작품의 중심가문인 이부, 화부, 호부와 모두 연관된 인물인 난화에 주목하고자 한다. 난화는 <화문록>에서 다양한 신분, 위치, 모습으로 재현되는 존재이다. 이혜란의 시비이지만 호홍매를 도와 이혜란에게 악행을 저지른 후 호홍매에게 감시의 대상이자 대접해야 할 대상이 되기도 하며, 이를 빌미로 호홍매의 부친 호빈의 첩이 되기도 하고, 결국 호빈의 처인 만부인의 투기로 죽임을 당한 후에는 만부인에게 복수하기 위해 호빈의 아들에게 빙의해 나타나기까지 한다. 이런 난화는 이혜란과 호홍매의 처처갈등을 표면화하는 인물이자, 호홍매의 가문을 몰락하게 만드는 결정적 인물이라 할 수 있다. 또 난화가 죽은 후 다른 이에게 빙의해 벌이는 모습들은 ‘득옥 이야기’로부터 영향을 받았을 가능성을 보여주는 부분이라는 점에서 주목을 요한다. <화문록> 속 난화의 이 같은 재현은 이 작품의 서사에서 다음과 같은 기능을 한다. 하층인물이 자신의 개인적인 욕망을 추구하며 주종관계에 균열을 내는 모습이 포착되며, 동시에 투기는 곧 가문을 멸문으로 이끌 정도로 잘못된 행위라는 점을 강조하는 역할을 담당한다. 또 중심가문인 세 가문에 걸쳐 있으면서 서사의 연결고리가 되어준다는 점에서 서사를 보다 다채롭고 흥미 있게 만들어준다고 할 수 있다.

This article is intended to examine the aspect of reproduction of fertilization in < Hwamunrok > and to identify the narrative function and meaning of such a method of reproduction. The Korean-language novel < Hwamunrok > is a work that deals with marital conflict and wife conflict between three people: Hwakyung, Lee Hyeran and Hohongmae. In this article, I would like to focus on the narrative, which is a person related to the central family of this work, Ibu, Hwabu, and Hobu. Nanhwa is an existence that is reproduced in various statuses, locations, and figures in < Hwamunrok >. It's a poet's quarrel, but after helping Hohongmae to commit an act of evil against Lee Hyeran, she becomes the subject of surveillance and hospitality to Hohongmae. After being killed in speculation, she even appears in will to Hobin's son to avenge his wife. This kind of difficulty can be said to be a figure who faces the conflict between Lee Hye-ran and Ho Hong-mae, and is a decisive figure that makes the family of Ho hong-mae fall. Also, it is important to note that the appearances of a person who suffers from others after the death of a fire show the possibility of being influenced by the story of Deuk-ok. This reproduction of the painting in < Hwamunrok > plays the following functions in the narrative of this work. It is discovered that the lower class pursues their own personal desires and cracks the relationship between master and chambermaid, and at the same time, it plays a role to emphasize that speculation is wrong enough to lead the family to ruin. In addition, it can be said that it makes the narrative more colorful and interesting in that it spans three families, the central family, and becomes a link between the narrative.
