구개음화는 시기, 지역, 문헌의 성격에 따라 다르게 나타나는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그런데 중앙 간행 문헌보다 초기 구개음화가 나타나는 16세기 전라간행 문헌에서는 한 문헌의 내부에서도 구결문과 언해문에 따라 구개음화가 달리 나타난다. 16-17세기 전라 지방에서 간행된 문헌들은 주로 사찰에서 간행된 불서로 언해서일 경우에는 대체로 한문 원문에 독음과 토를 부기하고 대당하는 언해문을 싣는 체제를 갖는다. 본고에서 검토한 언해서들에서는 동일한 문헌내부에서도 구결문과 언해문에 따라 구개음화의 반영 양상이 달리 나타났다. 한문 원문에 독음을 부기한 구결문에서 구개음화 비율이 높게 나타났으며 대당하는 언해문에서는 구개음화 비율이 낮게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 구개음화 비율이 낮게 나타나는 언해문의 경우에도 고유어보다 한자어에서 구개음화 비율이 높게 나타나서 구결문의 구개음화와 언해문의 한자어가 일정한 상관관계를 보였다. 이러한 특징은 비슷한 시기, 같은 지역에서 간행된 ≪광주천자문≫(1575), ≪백련초해≫(1585) 등에 반영된 한자 독음, 한자어에서는 나타나지 않는 특징으로 자서류의 대표적인 독음과는 달리, 한문 원문에 부기한 구결문의 독음에서부터 구개음화가 반영되어 언해문의 한자어에도 영향을 미친 것으로 생각된다. 초기 구개음화를 반영한 16세기 전라문헌의 언해문에서 확인되는 한자어의 구개음화도 미표기된 구결문의 구개음화와 관련이 있을 것으로 생각된다.

The palatalization varies depending on time, region, and characteristic of literature. However, in the 16th-century ‘Jeolla publication literature’ in which palatalization occurred earlier than the central publication literature, the palatalization was differently reflected depending on ‘Gugyeolmun’ and ‘Eonhaewmun’, even in the one literature. The Buddhist literature published in temples in the 16th and 17th centuries are composed of ‘Gugyeolmun’(Chinese characters with the sound of Sino-Korean characters) and the corresponding ‘Eonhaewmun’(translation from Chinese characters into Korean). And the ratio of palatalization was high in 'Gugyeolmun' and the corresponding ‘Eonhaewmun’ showed the low ratio of palatalization. Even in the case of ‘Eonhaewmun’, the palatalization ratio was relatively higher in Sino-Korean than in Korean native words. The palatalization in 'Gugyeolmun' showed the correlation with Sino-Korean in ‘Eonhaewmun’. This is a characteristic that does not appear in the sound of Chinese characters and Sino-Korean, such as ≪Gwangju Thousand- -Character Text≫ (1575) and ≪Baekryeonchohae≫ (1585), published in the same region around the same time. It seems to be reflected the palatalization from the sound of Sino-Korean characters in the ‘Gugyeolmun’ and it also influenced on Sino-Korean in ‘Eonhaewmun’. The palatalization in ‘Eonhaewmun’ of the 16th-century Jeolla publication literature could be related to the unwritten sound of Sino-Korean characters in ‘Gugyeolmun’
